Re: Dear Toril... I have some sad news about Joth.
Damn, I remember Joth pretty well. Disappointing to hear about anyone passing on, especially against the likes of what he endured. Best wishes.

There was the infamous Roots spank back in '97, of course. I think I may have helped in the tail end, and of course the ensuing chaos where loads of EQ mysteriously went missing.. But there were a few Crypts spanks that were just awful. One in particular stands out. It was an instance where I had to...

Everyone thought adding the exp bar was going to ruin the flavor of the mud. I don't think it did. The exp bar didn't ruin the flavor. Letting people see their own damage numbers wouldn't ruin the flavor. But the change in the exp bar did, and numbers would, take a little bit of flavor away. There ...

You can see everyone's damage... Ugh, nasty. Can we just remove all pretense of a fantasy RP game and just leave the Matrix-like number scroll, please? Thanks. Well, in some ways it's advantageous to have it not showing you numbers. For example, if you enshroud it in a mist of blood you know it's j...

Another question after reading the weapon enchantments thread and seeing the awesome screenshots Shev posted.. So we won't be seeing actual numerical feedback on our damage? Is there anything being done in terms of prestige? One thing that would be interesting is if you had prestige for every major hometown/area of the mud and as you completed quests or did exp in those areas it would positively or negatively impact your prestige. It'd be pretty neat if you had enough p...

Shaman Spirits in Hometowns
Can a forger/admin/god/official please explain why Spirit totems are not allowed in hometowns but various elementals are?
I've wondered that since the beginning.. I don't follow the logic, and would love to understand it.
Thank. :)

Rather than going through every item of EQ and putting a level cap on it, why not just cap the bonuses based on level? If you're level 10, you can only get a max of +1 dam from any particular item, or only +10hp, with a scale whereby you get full bonuses at level 40 or so. Would be a lot less work ...

Erm, Toril is as much a circular game as WoW is. Actually, moreso. It's not fair to compare the two games, obviously, as one is an enormous project funded and staffed with a pay-to-play basis, but much of their concepts are not original but rather drawn from long-standing muds such as Toril. First off, if I call Toril by the name Sojourn, it is only because I view them interchangeably. I started playing in '96, so it has always been Sojourn to me. No offense is meant. This was a fun thread to read. :) Lots of reasons the mud isn't as fun or as densely populated as it once was.. and a lot of it has to do with removing the one threshold that separated the best from the best. May you always find your smile.
