I've removed the instructions on how to unlock the map. Here's a little background: The mapper in Nyy's client is a great feature and we're glad that it's available to new and existing players. However, we'd like to keep some mystery for new and old players alike that haven't been to every zone yet....

Some of that time was spent working on something for the MUD that isn't quite ready yet, but there was also a lot of real life in there getting in the way. Things are settling down now, and I have some fixes in progress that will hit the MUD soon.

The new powers version of area spells work exactly like that. Most of them have very large radii, but there are some that are a bit smaller. See Fireball for an example. Power spells also support a "disperse" value that controls how the damage is split up on the targets. It can do the dama...

They can be already, but most are intentionally setup to only recharge when worn, to prevent the "big bag of unlimited proc items" effect. Are there particular items that you think are useless because of this that should be reconsidered?

I'm a big fan of open source, but I don't think it would be the right move for the MUD at the moment. That may change in the future though.

I don't think that just removing !locate flags is the answer. Magma seems to me like a zone in need of some design changes. It needs equipment load/stat tweaking as part of a bigger effort to make it more fun at the same time. Any volunteers?

This is fixed now. Thanks for the help identifying the issue. It turns out that it was a problem that only affected people who first created their accounts during a specific time period, which is why many players were unaffected. Character lists should stay in sync now, but may need to be linked/unl...

It seems the new server has had some intermittent lag over the last couple of weeks. To combat this, I've upgraded our servers and added more processing power. So far it seems to be doing the trick. The TorilMUD forums were corrupted and lost in the hardware failure we suffered two weeks ago. We've restored the forums from a copy from mid-2011 and cleaned up and archived most of the discussions. I haven't read them myself, but Shar is a big fan of Sanderson's own books, especially Elantris and his latest, Way of Kings. Might be worth checking out if you like his writing style.

Yeah, I realized that was confusing. It now shows the actual numbers for characters that can use it, and no real numbers for everyone else. The "Mod:" section will still show up for dice based values so you can see figure out a rough number though. Here's yet another version of the info co...

No, it's actually a 50% boost. Now that you mention it, that is a bit high as I set it as a placeholder. It'll be something more reasonable when it comes into the MUD for real.

Yes, it supports the partial incorporeal affect that the old embodiments had, but it is a little different. It's just a straight 50% modifier to hit or be hit with melee powers if that affect is on you instead of a 50% chance to go sprawling. I think this is a better setup... Here's the updated info...

I am aware of it. I've been sacrificing fixing little things like this to focus on a framework that will eliminate these kinds of issues and allow non-coders to address them in the future. I didn't have embodiments on the initial Powers list, but I'll take a look this weekend and see how hard they'd...
