Random rants and comments: remort: ugh! yuck! 50th lvl kits for everyone: I think some kind of reward at lvl 50 for each class would be nice. There has to be some goal at the top! In most cases this should be a single skill or spell. Something nice, but minor with respect to the class as a whole. Ho...

bounty hunting...a different way?
In soj2 there was an interesting piece of code added where naughty ppl had bounties placed on their heads by hometowns and we had the chance to chase after them with ropes-a-swingin to bring them in for $$$. Unfortunately, this sometimes led to ill-feelings between the hunter & hunted (understandabl...

misc. thrown items - 2 types
I'm curious if much thought had been given to implementing code allowing the use of miscellaneous thrown objects in combat. I mean stuff like nets and greek fire oil, not chairs, rations, and that kind of stuff. These could act like the following: net: weak minor para spell vial of slippery oil: sho...

Hafta agree. Even though a group with 6 vokers would be quite powerful, its silly to limit vokers in groups. What keeps them out, an invisible anti-voker shield? (of course, I'm against group limits as such too :P ) Balance the class. Lotta 'vokers in the room? Give a chance for areas to affect ppl ...

Of course when Soj2 went down, I had to be stupid and dump all my zmud files. I'm slowly rebuilding them. Was wondering if anyone could post a list of useful gags (and highlights for that matter) for sojourn (with zmud). Thanks!

Back to the original topic of this thread. Many have mentioned good *solo* classes...warrior, necro, conjie, etc. I agree that those are good solo classes. Favorite mud memory: Chaos Christmas: One of my first chars, a mid-lvl fighter named Mrog. Logged on and the place was decimated. Saitcho, in an ideal world, you're right. I know I was extremely grateful when you let one of my rangers (Raevia, Raevin, Raevith, can't remember which) tag along on some adventures. Some of the best times I had and I certainly learned alot. However, not everyone is as nice a leader as you. I know I...

Sarvis: Bow...melee...don't matter to me. Point is, I want my ranger to contribute enough dmg to a group to be as worthwhile as a 'voker. I prefer hitting dmg over spells, that's why I played a monkie and then a ranger. Tre: I figured 'fireseeds' was AD&D. That name has druid/nature written all over...

You're always on crack Twibs. Perhaps hit once too many times by my stray arrows, eh? Anyhow, as to those two spells. The 'fireseeds' one is an interesting idea, although I wouldn't use that name (seeds part doesnt make much sense). 'Seeking' seems like overkill. Besides, what good is forcing a coup...

It was boring. A couple of my characters were just starting to do some zoning (upper 30's/low 40s). Being rangerish/monkish and on the lower lvl end of the group, they simply did not have the hps in some areas. Had to sit a couple o times. I was happy to help out, however. Besides, the good leaders ...

Hafta agree with Malacar. Ogres should be big enough to have a 2h wielded 1h, but they wouldn't have the dex for dualing 2h weapons. Let them use a shield (or hold something). Excellent point. And it should be a good compromise between the dualing 2h weaps camp and those who wanna stick with the cur...

Thanks for your comments, Rags. However, I think you misunderstood my intent. I dont think that rangers should have tanking pets either(i tried to make that clear). Hmm. Now peeps are talking about rangers being a solo class out in the wilderness. At this point in the mud, I don't think they come close to qualifying as a solo class (i.e necro, shaman, etc). At best, they are an accessory class. They add some dmg capability to groups, as well as secondary tanks....
