I'd like to point out something to everyone that's worried that having code published will be a threat to us: To run a successful MUD you need: 1) A professionally run staff of at least 5 people, preferably more. No "new" MUD won't have this immediately, and it takes a while for the right people to...

1. Opinions are good 2. Flames are bad 3. Over-reacting is silly Just got this from Kris today in response to my request not to release quests: Roy, Definitely reasonable - I dont want to spoil your quests. I will only release quests for like 1 zone as an example, one of my own zones. Does that work...

Rumors regarding Miax, and the MUD being made public
A few days ago I received the following email from Kris (aka Miax): Roy, After some discussion with my wife Eileen, we are going to package and fully release the Sojourn3 code and areas to the public domain. Given that I was the sole legal owner of the Sojourn3 mud, we are within our rights to do so...

Object Changes, Round 2!
OK, as of this evening the 2nd round of object changes will be live (54 files moved). Please refer to all preceding messages to figure out what we did and why. I'm sure the changes won't be perfect, and I suspect that we'll be doing more tweaking again, but there will be no "testing period" per se....

Hulburg Changes!
The Hulburg changes are in. Please use this thread to comment on them.
DK and Havenport are done and pending final approval, then will be added probably tomorrow or the next day. I'll add threads for those 2 as well.
Enjoy.

Hey, thanks to Shevarash I've finally got it working. If you're using Chronicles as your template for the BBS you should now see a spanky logo up top for voting at kyndig and topmudsites. How are you adjusting to the object changes?
I realize that some respond with "quitting" (or more appropriately vociferously threatening to quit, but not really going away), but we're curious as to how the equipment changes have affected your gameplay. This is less of a linear poll, and I realize there's some crossover. Please vote for what yo...

Effect of Object Changes:
I'd like a feel as to how you interpret the changes overall.
Please be honest.
If you lost 55 hitpoints that you didn't need anyway, and your only other change was that you lost a spell effect that a 5th level mage can cast on you, you did *not* suffer a massive setback.

I couldn't agree more. The newbies and low-mid players will be completely fine with the exception of those that are decked out with handed-down high level gear. Complicated but addressed in the system: Rareloads get a significant bonus to their base mob points, all fights in a quest are added, all items turned in are added, then put through a modifier to get the final point score. In other words, the modifier is fair and takes into account the number of rew...

Good question: It depends on the zone. Some zones are calc'd as a single zone if they're tightly interwoven (eg. BC and avernus) or an equal portion of Zone A's points are carried over to Zone B, based on the portion of Zone A that needs to be done to get to Zone B There are no 'bonus' points, point...
