Same reason clerics have necromancy. We don't use it now, but it's a lot easier to have it and notch it up as you level through practicing and not need it, rather that not have it and have a spell added later that fits into that category. Eradicate Undead. A better example would have been spellcast...

Gonna have to disagree. True sight classicly allows you to see through all illusions, etc..clerical version allows seeing auras (obviously changed here, but no big deal). What it does NOT do, however, is uncover things hidden through mundane means. It should not help searching at all.

Sure..it was established that he was a Death Eater, but tried to get out at the end, and was killed by either Voldy or one of his supporters (Sirius says that he thought it was probably one of his supporters). However, there is no way to know _when_ the phylact..er..horcrux was stolen from the cave....
