Postby Shevarash » Sat Feb 01, 2003 8:24 am

Welcome to the new Forums!

All users and threads from the old UBB Forums have been converted - if you experience any problems feel free to email, pm, or mudmail me.

Why did we switch? Well, phpBB is pretty damn slick, plus it's free, and highly extensible. :)

Can the signatures field be made longer? I just had to cut one out. :(

Also, is it possible to make it so you can have multiple sigs which get randomly selected when you post? I know I asked this before, but maybe it's more doable on the new BBS?

Also, I kinda miss the old color scheme. Course, I missed the old old one too when the last one showed up, so this will probably grow on me. ;)

If you can get around to it, can you try to incorporate the following?

For some reason the icons to show a new post don't change colors for me when I refresh the BBS. Any idea what might be causing this?

I'm having the same problem with not having the colors change when new messages are posted. I figure maybe it's a problem with the timecode..?

Okay, logging in seems to have fixed my problem. Odd thing was, I was registered for the BBS already, but never actually registered with it. Does anybody know if registry carries over from other BBS's using the same software?

Well, Seems registering worked for me too. However the time was changed from GMT-5 hours to GMT in that same stretch. So I'm not sure which did it.

Ashiwi: Doubt it very much. Different hosts and different databases that store your session id and ip.

Dizzin: I assume you know you can change the time zone in your profile? :wink:

And btw... Letters you can use in the "Date format" in the profile settings... (if you don't like the default :wink:)

Code: Select all

* a - "am" or "pm"
* A - "AM" or "PM"
* B - Swatch Internet time
* d - day of the month, 2 digits with leading zeros; i.e. "01" to "31"
* D - day of the week, textual, 3 letters; e.g. "Fri"
* F - month, textual, long; e.g. "January"
* g - hour, 12-hour format without leading zeros; i.e. "1" to "12"
* G - hour, 24-hour format without leading zeros; i.e. "0" to "23"
* h - hour, 12-hour format; i.e. "01" to "12"
* H - hour, 24-hour format; i.e. "00" to "23"
* i - minutes; i.e. "00" to "59"
* I (capital i) - "1" if Daylight Savings Time, "0" otherwise.
* j - day of the month without leading zeros; i.e. "1" to "31"
* l (lowercase 'L') - day of the week, textual, long; e.g. "Friday"
* L - boolean for whether it is a leap year; i.e. "0" or "1"
* m - month; i.e. "01" to "12"
* M - month, textual, 3 letters; e.g. "Jan"
* n - month without leading zeros; i.e. "1" to "12"
* O - Difference to Greenwich time in hours; e.g. "+0200"
* r - RFC 822 formatted date; e.g. "Thu, 21 Dec 2000 16:01:07 +0200" (added in PHP 4.0.4)
* s - seconds; i.e. "00" to "59"
* S - English ordinal suffix for the day of the month, 2 characters; i.e. "st", "nd", "rd" or "th"
* t - number of days in the given month; i.e. "28" to "31"
* T - Timezone setting of this machine; e.g. "EST" or "MDT"
* U - seconds since the Unix Epoch (January 1 1970 00:00:00 GMT)
* w - day of the week, numeric, i.e. "0" (Sunday) to "6" (Saturday)
* W - ISO-8601 week number of year, weeks starting on Monday (added in PHP 4.1.0)
* Y - year, 4 digits; e.g. "1999"
* y - year, 2 digits; e.g. "99"
* z - day of the year; i.e. "0" to "365"
* Z - timezone offset in seconds (i.e. "-43200" to "43200"). The offset for timezones west of UTC is always negative, and for those east of UTC is always positive.
For instance "D j. M Y, H:i" (or something like that) for those a little more used to the European way of writing dates...

Actually, for me that sux0rs. I had 50 different sigs all corresponding to different eras, and that was how I could tell roughly how far back a post was made, and what kind of mood I was in when I made it. Now, lost :(

Hmm, might want to try some of the other layouts, maybe they're better? I'll keep an eye out for some that are smaller.

Couple things.

One, the dating is set to something that is off by 8 hrs? If we need to set that ourselves, please explain how.

Second, I tried to search for all messages with my name in it (which I routinely did in the past) and got 0 responses. Actually, a lot of my searches came up 0. I tried every logical setting I could.

Otherwise, it hurts my eyes to look at, honestly.

Oh, and I am now a lurker for those that care about those things. Deleted all characters! If you can't beatem, deletem.

fixing the date/time issue

Postby Kossuth » Mon Feb 03, 2003 6:46 pm

Fripple,

In your Profile, there's a way to change your timezone relative to GMT time... if you're in Eastern, I believe that makes you GMT -5.

So what about this problem with width of images posted to the BBS and how it affects the viewing window? The image posted as an avatar and Daz's banners are wider than the typical 13" monitor allows for (I'm at work, sue me, a lot of systems come with 13" standard), which expands the borders of the BBS, making it so that if you want to read the messages on that thread you have to scroll back and forth for each line. Is there a way to fix that? I'm hoping the answer won't be to tell me to tweak something so that I won't be able to see any images at all, that would be a sad thing.

I know how to fix it. Quit playing on your graphing calculator. Seriously. I didn't know they even made 13" monitors anymore.

Things to check if you're having problems -

1) Are you logged in?

2) Does your BBS bookmark include a string of numbers and characters in the URL? If so, make sure your bookmark points to just: www.sojourn3.org/phpBB2/

3) Do you have cookies disabled? Turn em on if so!

If it's not one of those things, contact me and tell me the nature of the error and I'll do what I can to help :)

I am logged in.

I Used your link to get to the bbs this time.

I am not sure that the state of my cookies has changed (My workstation at work is locked down). Even if it had why would I be able to reply to this post yet not to the others listed.

Another example of a post I can't post to is the Cleric is a mercenary post on general game play dsicussions.

Thanks!

Kinda liked the old board actually. Only thing I like about the new so far is all the :D :) :( :o :shock: :? 8) :lol: :x :P :oops: :cry: :evil: :twisted: :roll: :wink: :!: :?: :idea: :arrow: :| :mrgreen:

Oh yeah, and it's easier to bold stuff and make em links. But the overall feel and look I don't like. Old board was easier to read. Yes I have changed my BBS skins after trying them all out, but they don't kick in until you log in anyways. :|
