If you get really intimate with someone and you're in character, and they're in character and the whole thing is done in RP fasion.. is that still considered Cyber or just really erotic RP?

Well I don't walk around normally thinking i'm a drow-elf lich/invoker during my !mud time. So no, it's not 'doing it' for me. I'm just kinda.. not so shy to persue some possible areas I guess you could say. But I'd like to know ahead of time if i go down a certain road if i'm going to be missinterpreted.

Well... just to be blunt, and I think most everybody who knows me already realizes I could care less what most people think about me...

I always thought cybersex was an online connection which enhanced long-distance mutual (*supposedly* mutual!) masturbation. You can RP a sexual event, but how often do you have a need to do that for the purposes of the game? If it's done for the purposes of sexual satisfaction I think I'd call it cybersex.

And whether or not there's anything wrong with that is entirely up to you.

I was joking around with some friends on the mud one day, and i said jokingly out of RP disgruntlement that i was going to RP my grey elf as a ditzy white trailor-park-trash slut. So that people would say 'omg so and so is such a slut!' :shock: and I'd say "Omg Thanks! I'm trying my best!" :D


So the question arose in my head... What if someone really did this? :roll:

I'm such an !slut in real life (going on 3 years without having intercourse here) that i'd be kinda fun RP'n something I'm so not in actuality. Maybe :roll:


And to be quite honest, Cyber doesn't do anything for me. If the person is exceptionally good at it I might get a little horney and my imagination going. But i'm not gonna suddenly need to log off for 20 mins or wutever. Even talking about sex online doesn't do it for me. There are some things people do that might stir my desire, but that's about it. :wink:

First, I don't really think the name you attach to it is very important. People have certain connotations they attach to "cybersex" and if you don't feel like you want to be associated with that, then simply don't associate it. But for semantics sake, I'd say if you're flirting with someone it's cybersex, if you're dramatically carrying out the actions and affections of your character toward their character, it's roleplay.

Secondly, I don't know how well the character you're describing would be received in the game. It's possible sure, and I don't know of anyone who purposely tried to roleplay that way (though I do know a few who acted like it without even stepping under the pretense of RP heh). But most people play Sojourn as a way to step away from ordinary life... and I don't know how many people would be pleased if the game felt like an AOL chatroom. The online-slut persona is so common on the internet these days that I don't know if it's really an "escape" anymore...

I'm going to have to say, that unless you are some sort of machien and can absolutely seperate your emotions from yourself when you RP, I would have to say that it is fulfilling some sort of emotional need for you. If you don't in the least bit feel excited, happy, or some sort of emotion while doing it, then I would say its just Romantic RP, but if you do feel some emotion while doign it, I would say it is pretty close to Cyber.

He's supposed be suave (that spelled right?) and cool and intelligent and all that. In either case, it's all RP. I think the cyber is when you start breathing heavy at the keyboard. I think so anyway. In either case, you can be slutty or trashy or whatever without going and actually doing that whole sex act type out thing. Illithids view their fertilizations as a natural act, no more peculiar than breathing. Also remember that Illithids have no orgiastic response from it, self-fertilization is just something they need to do twice in their life (like pulling wisdom teeth) with no associated physical pleasure. Illithids DO have intense sensual responses from braindraining, but that's a whole other story ;)
