I remember when "Twink" was someone that didn't know anything about the mud, or someone who was plevelled and geared without leading WD.
Whats the obsession with 'twinking' this and 'cheesing' that?
There should always be more ways to win a fight than toe to toe hammering on each other. Can you imagine watching a football game if all they ever ran was an I formation sending the fullback up the middle everytime?
Innovation should not be a punishable offense. Everyone should be able to step out of the box and figure out a good trick to do things.
This is the one and only advantage PC's have over NPCs, adaptability. Take that away from us and we're all just a bunch of mobs hammering on each other until we have the highest hitroll/hps/hit/dam. :P

It used to be that I would become very frusterated with 25th level characters who had 45th level eq and no idea where to buy food or where the fountain (!) was in DK.
Now I see that more and more, but that is just my rant.
The MUD has also had a LONG standing policy of treating anything short of a standup firefight as twinking though.

Twink: A name used by mudders to describe someone that they dont like just because they can't think up an original name to pay them out with.
Other words abused by unoriginal players on sojourn. Foo, joo, feh, choad, mang, @once, 3nj0y. These were all cool for a while but really why does everyone have to copy someone else? Cause it is safer to be one of the croud then the one that stands apart..

Been thinking of starting up on here for a while, so I've been lurking on the boards a bit.
I've played at about 10 muds, and none of them called doing a zone with less than normal "twinky". They usually called them "good players", but I guess they're wacky that way.
If anything they would call doing a zone with more than required "twinky", well, probably "cheesy".

The following is my comment to Asamoth's Column on www.dsrising.com. I thought it would make sense here as well.
It seems to me that just about everyone on the mud this incarnation that has been called a twink has been someone who I would like to group with.
It used to be that people who didn't know their ass from their elbow were the twinks. It also used to be that skillful players were complimented for their innovative playing styles. But this is the new egalitarian mud where being knowledgeable and skillful is bad because it hurts the self esteem of lesser players.
So if you get called a twink, consider it a compliment.

i always thought twink was someone whose eq > skill level. bob the level 1 ranger with windsong and 30/30 that never left wd and annoyed mystra is a good example of a twink.

btw i had shitty eq for a long time cos i was lazy and just liked to stay solo..... Then finally got some decent eq, but i started another char. to "twink" up with left over eq i had. now i just give nice eq to lowbie's. just like a really kewl person called Lilithelle (goddess she is). Anyways, at least there are still some ppl with a good heart
And yea i can understand feeling a little wierd about seeing someone who is lvl. 16 with a ring of eldricht, but don't complain about it. that is a waste of time.
