GIMP?

Postby Sarvis » Fri Jul 04, 2003 5:14 am

Anyone here good with GIMP, or photo editing in general? I'm currently creating a bunch of textures for an Unreal Tournament level based on my school and don't know jack about photo editing, and only slightly more about GIMP itself... So I may have some minor questions if you guys could help out.

As an example (and feel free to answer ;) )

Can you get rid of glare in a photograph? On some of the shinier floors the lights are creating glare on the tiles, I'd like to be able to remove it so that I get just the color of the tiles themselves... can you do this? How?

Yeah, it's totally possible, but you need a multilevel photosuite and to break ALL of the histogram levels into differinglayers. delete 2 or 3 of the ones that contain the brightest light, then recompile them. THere might be a simpler way, but this is the only way I know... texturing is fun guy.

eep.

Thanks. :)

I did think this would be easier, but hopefully it won't be _too_ bad.

I can do it, but I've never tried it with GIMP, only Photoshop.

Heh... wish I could afford photoshop. From what I hear it sounds like there are a few things such as scripts to help out with texturing, such as lining up edges and such.

Oh well.

Anyway, if the image is only in one layer is there a way I can break it up into more layers so I can do that histogram thing?
