Well, it's almost summertime again, which means I won't be able to play much during the next four months. I am an infantry reservist in the Canadian Armed Forces and every summer from May to the end of August I work with the military.
This summer, like the last two, I will be doing the changing of the guard ceremony on Parliament Hill (the guys with the scarlet uniforms and bearskin hats). As a result, my playtime will be very limited
I will log on when I can, but for those of you who I don't see, have a great summer and see ya in the fall -hugs-

Summer is here once again...
EH! Don't forget that we also have the Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen!
Our country reeks of trees.
Our yaks are really large,
And they smell like rotting beef carcasses!
And we have to clean up after them.
And our saddle sores are the best.
We proudly wear womens clothing,
And searing sand blows up our skirts!
And the buzzards they soar overhead,
And poisonous snakes will devour us whole.
Our bones will bleach in the sun..
And we will probably go to hell!
And that is our great reward,
For being the-uh Ro-yal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen!

I know that you guys are just fooling around with your comments about the Canadian Forces, but I do take my job very seriously and personally. As for why does Canada bother? I suggest you read the article found here:

To answer the question...I'm not sure anymore.

Snort, go read up on Canada's past military accomplishments to see why they bother.
I'm sure there's some great WWII era books at Amazon highlighting the Canadian contributon...the only one I can think of offhand that demonstrates it is Six Armies In Normandy by John Keegan, which has a fairly lengthy chapter on the Canucks. As well as the Polish, Free French, etc.
Or just go on acting like the US is the only nation that will be or has ever been useful, no skin off my ass.
Anyways, have a nice summer Tsaej, see ya in the fall.

Understand, served in the US military, respect the commitment to serve. Also, you have slightly less chance of getting sent somewhere odd to fight for something you have nothing to do with personally than we do in the US. But w/ the UN, only slightly.
Cheers, and enjoy Marching Up and Down the Square!
