Oldest player of \"sojourn\"

Postby Altan » Tue Jul 09, 2002 9:03 am

I am curious of who is the OLDEST rl player of sojourn, I myself, known to a few folks, am quite a few yrs older than most of ya'll, I became involed with D&D around about 82, which should give you a good idea how long i've been playing.
I have long admired guys like, Dornax, Diac, Toddrick (WHO could be a dick but was the fairest S.O.B. i've ever met on the mud, also a GREAT leader), Tagad, who was funny as hell as far as i'm concened (and was a great leader in his own right), but they played the game and it wasn't a matter of "dude. I'm older than you!!". that was never the case.
I myself have followed and parrticipatted in groups of all the ofor menstioned (please don't mind my spelling, its almost 5 am here where I am) and i'd follow them again, as they all know. To reiterrate my precious question, i'm wondering who's the oldest RL player around, *I* myself, ... i'm 39 yrs old, not ashamed, not ignorrant, nor stupid, and still following younger guys, please be honest, if it don't wanna post it here, send me and email so I don't feel like the old fart on the mud, joneric@stic.net, I will NEVER tell anyone, Mystra, Kris, *TOG* and the rest of ya'll feel free to add IF you feel you wouldn't mind.

Shev, you wuss, I've known you for going over 5 yrs, at least, and you won't post your age, who cares, unless you do, I know how old most players (which you don't play much cause of "god" status, and that is TOTALLY understood) are, but are you that afraid of us knowing your age, I "PERSONNALLY" would gues you to be about... 32 or 33, if i'm way off please feel free to correct me. Well I'm definitely not the oldest, but it's worth mentioning that my parents bought me the D&D Basic Set when I was six years old and I've been horribly hooked on RPGs ever since.

ok, on this same thread of old school stuff, I got stuck in the areana, with grxx, who is an exp player, I am also, however, i tryped the following commands in, just causee i wass stuck...

help combat
help arrena
help arena
help death
help dying
help fight
help newbie
help oldie (i made this one up)
help cleric
help shaman
help silence (which is what I was stuck in)
help anything, causee nothing would help.

I would HATE to be a new player here and hoping to get ahead, cause it ain't gonna happen,
I love sojourn but, O can't evenm fight a troll in the areana without ffear of gettting stuck in the arreana.

35 and I still giggle like a schoolgirl, jump into the swimming pool fully clothed, ogle construction men, and speed like a madwoman when I'm on the highway at night and I hear the song "Radar Love." My friends all think I'm crazy because I spend so much time on my computer, but I've never really given much of a lick about how other people think I should live, and I highly doubt that's going to start now.

Wood?!?

We should've been so lucky, why they didn't even have wood when I was a youngster... we had to chip them out of stone!

My brother probably has youngest player, he's 10. And be nice to little Seltin, he's just learning to play! Though he's already suprised me with how quick he's picked up on some stuff, sheesh. He was scratching and burping within 3 minutes of loggin on, without me tellin him he could do it. Image

That's my boy!

Me, I'm 30. But one of my friends here got hooked on Dungeons and Dragons by one of the founders himself. He was in his 20's then. He is probably almost 50 now. He plays a bunch of characters, been around forver. Never plays a character long enough to get them high level.

What I'd be interested in knowing is what the mud demographic looked like when it was back on an .edu machine. was it mostly us (then) snot nosed teenagers, or did it have it's fair share of mature users? more girls back then? as many over-seas users?

I really don't care how many girls are on or real. I was probably more interested in age groups.

having said that, the first person who ever helped me on here was bridin, and I was fairly certain she was female. I know a few now who are (in varying degress) female. They certainly are the minority, but I've found that to be true of most games (except the Sims.)

Why is it so odd to think of women mudders?? Sure there is a HUGE population of female characters that are driven by men (females are more often larger than their male counterparts, and that damn succybitch causes this...).. but women like to hack and slash too Image

In fact i LOVE being the only RL woman in my guild Image I got 25 big brothers to kick peoples asses if they hurt me *Ambar winks at Dajenken and hopes he is scared :P*
