I'm coding a mud client in java atm, using full screen mode and active rendering with bufferstrategies and page flipping.
It runs with like 75 fps in on my computer atm, with no lag whatsoever.
Will probobly put up some links where early versions of it can be downloaded later.
The finished product will not work like normal telnet clients. It will read serialized objects over the net instead of just text. Allowing muds to send different objects instead of just simple text.

I would love to see a client that included a 'your character option' that made a generic image of your character, based on race/class/sex attributes. then, it would create a Poserish image of the character, that - depending on what EQ your character wore, would show what you were wearing. Come to think of it, I may play with the idea. I'll get back to you with what my character ends up looking like
