Sooo, where in the world is Carmen San Diego?

Postby Taegost » Mon Feb 04, 2002 7:25 pm

Heya everyone,

Well, since there's a thread about what we do for a living, what musical talents we have, and all sortsa colorful, entertaining things, I have a question that kinda follows that topic...
Where is everyone from? You don't need to include street names or phone numbers... Unless you want to, I'll only use it for personal stalking/making money from selling the list, etc. etc.... Image
Personally, I'm from Connecticut... One of the smallest states, but also the one with the highest per-capita income!
We're also in the top 3 "Targets for Nuclear War"
Lucky me!
Hey, at least if we go to nuclear war, I won't have to move back down to Florida to get a tan...
Won't need a flashlight, either!

Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley (Los Angeles area), moved to Phoenix, Arizona in October 2000 to get closer to my then-gf/now-wife.

Providence, RI, The smallest state with the third largest capital building in the US. Been up here only 3 months now, still adjusting.

Originally from good ole South Carolina, born and raised cityboy/redneck. Redneck with manners. And yeah, I get the question "Youz not from around here, are youz?" just about every day Image I just smile and say "Well, I reckon I ain't!"

Sydney, Australia normally. At the moment I can read the BBS and do other HTTP stuffs from Muswellbrook, NSW, Australia. Which is about 3.5 hours north of where I live, a thriving town of about 8000 where the average age would be 40+. Woe is me. Image

Lucky i'm only here for 1 more month!

Aylmer, Quebec, Canada. It is a 15 minute drive from The Nations Capital, Ottawa, which is on Ontario. I was raised in a small town/hick country called Norway Bay, where men are men and the sheep are deathly affraid.

Moved around a wee bit as a kid, settled in Maryland for high school, kickin it in Baltimore for college. Well, not in Baltimore. Our campus is too damn boring to be considered a part of Baltimore.

I guess it's not just me, most of the women up here seem ice cold. If they don't like one little thing about you, that's it, forget it, game over, go the hell away. Down south, women are much easier to get along with *on average*. Don't get me wrong, I've met a few really nice women up here, but most of the women I've met are evil icy temptresses looking for a man to mold to their evil designs. Image

There's also one other thing down south they don't have up here... Women that wear bikinis to Wal-Mart!
I about flipped a brick the first time I went there in Florida... And I miss it now that I'm back up here Image
But ya, it's really hard to find a good woman up here (I mean good HEARTED), that's why I've pretty much given up trying, I'll let them come to me for a change Image

I know what you mean! During the summer that's very very common, especially in the college towns. What sucks is G-strings and thongs are illegal on south carolina beaches! *cry* But it's funny to see the beach patrol come up to bust girls for that, and end up talking to the girls on the beach for an hour before they finally make them get dressed and kick em off, lol.

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Yes, I've milked a cow. Yes, I've gathered eggs for breakfast. No, the indoor plumbing was added two years before I was born, so I've never used an outhouse, but I have used the bushes.

Funniest incident from marrying a California boy...

Strange noise comes from kitchen, so hubby goes to check it out.
Hubby runs in says, "Honey, you need to come see this, there's the cutest raccoon in our kitchen!"
Country girl follows hubby to kitchen, much more cautiously, and sees a large potato chip sack lying on the kitchen floor, pulled from the trash can, with a HUGE rodent type body halfway inside it and a long, hairless tail roped across the floor.
Country girl grabs broom and says, "You twit, that's no raccoon!"
Hubby's cheesy grin disappears.
Country girl pokes potato chip bag with the end of the broom.
Monster sized opossum comes out of potato chip bag and hisses, baring all 7,000 needle sharp teeth.
Hubby is nowhere to be seen, but country girl hears the bedsprings squealing in protest.
Hubby yells from where he is standing on top of the bed, "What in the HELL is that THING?"
Country girl calmly tips the trashcan over, pokes the opossum until it retreats into the can, covers the can and carries it outside.
Country girl laughs for WEEKS!

Born in Meridian Mississippi.
I claim New Orleans as my home tho since I spent the first 17 years of my life there.

Now I live in Mariposa California, right down the road from the entrance to Yosemite National Park. Out here right down the road means a good 30 minute drive thru the mountains.

Daten/Wuva: When I was in boot camp, the second or third day, we were all in this big room, and the Petty Officer said "Everyone from Texas, raise your hand"
Literally 1/3 of the hands went up.
Then he said, "Texas is a great state, isn't it?"
Loud cheers erupted, and everyone was like "Hell ya!! Texas r00lz!"
To which he promptly replied, "If Texas is such a great state, why the hell did you join the Navy and come up here?"
Everyone fell silent, which was immediately followed by the Petty Officer saying "You know, the only things that come out of Texas are..."
Hehehe

I grew up on a farm, but I have to agree, there are almost no real cowboys up here... How could there be? It's New England!
But, my question to you is, what makes a "modern" cowboy?
Especially since all the "real" cowboys are dead.
