I'm a fairly big FR junkie. So, with that being said, how many of you bothered to read the Thousand Orcs by Salvatore? What do you think, pro's, con's. Or anyone read any good books lately? Looking for something new to sink my teeth into.

ve yet to read any of the latest 'Boostmaster' Salvatore books so I cannot comment on it. However, for suggestions, if yer looking for general fiction, I would recommend Happiness by Will Ferguson. A very satryical, cynical and humorous novel about the north american fixation on self help books and finding happiness, and to a lesser extent, the publishing industry
I am also re-reading the Raymond E. Feist series, the Riftwar Saga.

My favorite fantasy novels of all time have to be by Fritz Lieber. His fantasy is not 'heroic' in nature. What I like most about his writing is that it smacks of reality, while still having fantasy elements. You should try the following titles:
Fritz Lieber
Lean Times in Lankhmar
Gather Darkness!
Lieber's 'Lankhmar' work is brilliant! It tells the stories of two adventurers, you'll love it. 'Gather Darkness!' would appeal to the politicos out there. It has a medieval/modern theme, with a dab of witchcraft.
Brian Lumley
The Burrowers Beneath
In the Moons of Borea
The Transition of Titus Crowe
Necroscope Novels (eh. they're ok.)
Brian Lumley's 'Burrowers Beneath' is the best of the bunch, along with the Titus Crowe stories. Based loosely on the H.P. Lovecraft Cthulu Mythos stories, they're great reads. Give em a try if Lovecraft is too overwrought for you.
Those are my current favorites.

I read it this September. Probably the best series I've ever read.
