Poll: Should I grow my goatee again?

Postby Silsaterur » Sat Nov 16, 2002 12:49 pm

I usually reserve not shaving for the NHL playoffs, as my Maple Leafs quest for the cup. But I just wanted to see how well it would come in. Really nice actually, I've been growing a bad teenage mustache etc since I was 19. (My bro's and I have baby faces.) But shaved it off and now I look 17 again damnit!

So here is the Q:

To grow, or not to grow?

Go for it. I haven't shaved in nearly two months, simply because I'm just that lazy. It's awesome. Eventually, I'll have a ZZ Top-esque beard, with a family of squirrels living in there. Oooh, or a family of birds could build a nest in it, make it their home. That would be so cool. So as you can very well see, the benefits outweigh the detriments, so why not?

I remember a song Olive Oyl sang on one of those Popeye cartoons... "I want a clean shaven man, I want a clean shaven man, if he's short or tall doesn't matter at all, give me a clean shaven man." The hubby shaves regularly for me, and after nine years that's not all that still happens regularly.

Personally I can't stand having a beard or any crap like that, so I end up shaving every day.

I don't get it. You are saying that he still uses aftershave, too?

Heh, FYI - I hate shaving, I shave when I feel like it, and I can't think of anything that would make me shave every day short of a mid 6 figure salary.

Heh... funny thing is the only jobs that would force you to shave pay $8/hr. I've been working as a security guard the last 6 months, and was forced to shave or not be able to pay my bills. Image Just gave two week notice and am growing it back now though. Image

Except for 2 brief periods - several weeks total, I've not shaved since 1985... I mostly keeped it trimmed, but, occaisionally let it grow(this is not the longest it's been): Image Image

LOL I meant goatee, as in not unlike the Van Dyke that I recently shaved off... just the chin upper lip and a lil triangle under my lower lip...

Goatees are way sexy... especially on a man with a skin bald head. MmmMmm.

I've had a goatee since 1995. Shaved it off occasionally, worked a job that wouldn't let me have it once too.

I let it grow out for 7 months at one time. I was in college, and of course prone to drunkenness quite often. One night, this girl I was dating braided it on both ends, and died it green. Went to the football game the next day looking like a mascot! (green and gold were the team's colors)

Needless to say, it was after many "holy shit you look like Layne Staley" comments that I decided to keep the goatee theme going. I now have a thin beard attached to it, and I might go fu-man-chu style soon, who knows!

No I'm not pasting a picture of muh ugly self either. :P

It's your face and your facial hair. Usually people want to do what's comfortable and fitting for themselves... why ask everybody else how you should express yourself?

Ask yourself if you want it or not, then do that.
