Would you pay money for Sojourn Gear / Char?

Postby Sarell » Thu Nov 28, 2002 6:25 am

Would you pay real money for sojourn gear or character exp? If so, how much would you pay and for what items / characters? This is a hypothetical post btw because it is not allowed on Sojourn! But if it was...would you, oh and what is your ethical reasoning on the subject?

Time = money.

I'd pay for someone to exp for me.

Never.

The fact that this kickass text-based game is free once you have internet access helps makes it what it is.

I could see paying to avoid the first 21/26 levels of a casting class personally.

Or for something like a Twilight. Still a dream.

Never pay for a character, might pay for someone to get those last 4 levels of exp to 50, might pay for some of those damn pieces of equipment that time nor plat allow me to have.

In reality, I doubt i would pay cash for something mud related. Then again, $10 bucks for a twilight would sway just about anyone from that line of thinking, I'm sure.

I could see payin like 100$ for lets say a complete set of uber rogue eq or somethin.

Though I wonder if people would look at you differently for it.

If I win the lottery or something...hmm there is a thought. Or course, if I won the lottery, I'd probably have more time on my hands... Image

I'd probably pay someone to exp a caster up for me.

I'd never pay for eq, unless it was a few bucks for some really nice stuff. I don't think I'd be able to pass that up.

I'd pay $50-$75 for a decent caster/hitter setup. But to me, exp=learning class. There are so many little things you learn about your class experimenting while you exp that pays off later when you start to zone. Those lessons are invaluable. But it is tedious, at times.

If someone were to buy a high level char without having played that class before they'd be next to useless in a zone group. Maybe its just me being overly critical, but I think some of the new breed of 40+ warriors comming through on the goodie side recently are seriously lacking in the uber skills and knowledge that the old school guys and gals have. With the proliferation of equipment people are leveling quicker than ever and not really learning their class.

Just my opionon.

Gavry

PS. I wouldn't buy xp, a character or equipment, whatever the cost. Earning it yourself is the greatest reward.

PPS. I absolutly hate. [some newb] tells your 'Got some equipment for me?'. Go and bloody earn it like everyone else use to.

Nope, would never even consider it. Above reasons of learning class are huge, as is the self accomplishment feeling of getting it yourself.

I'd pay money for someone to spend a week rolling near perfect stats for a new character...

Beyond that, what fun is getting something you didn't earn??

Course, I might also pay for some (cough) "luck" on the eq splitting dice.

Whee.

hehe I bribe with plats all the time to get xp....like "I'll give you each 100 lpat, just flee on this kill......" And they're like SWEET DEAL!!! I think that is all part of the game, even if it seems wierd.

I'd pay $10 for a nebby,$20 for 2.....but take this game more seriously than others.

You should have paid attention to the zone instead of being afk posting here Image
That would have just saved you 300p worth of bribes in xping.

Only reason i play are for the experiences i've had getting the char and eq.

Not simply having it.
