I was in a bad mood today, sick (hopin its not mono), muted for talking about Miax's mullet... aka M&M's...

When my ex hits me up on ICQ... soon after, her new bf is tryin to get my auth...

She goes into detail about how she f***ed with me after the breakup as revenge and not actually giving a crap...

So rather than adding them to my iggy list, I sorta deleted the windows dir on their hd's... (god bless people too stupid to turn off file sharing)

Was this wrong of me?

It all depends really. Mathmaticaly what you did made things worse (ie. Action inteded to cause pain = 1, Action intended to cause joy = -1 1+1 !=0 to even things out) As far as the golden rule is concerned, since she was the first to strike, she got what she deserved. In terms of karma, her actions inevitably came back to haunt her, but in the process you will also have some karma to work off

Realisticly though, i would have to say you acted as most would have in the situation given the knowledge about computers and the oportunity that presented itself. If it were me I would have done worse. People like that should have their genitals mutilated and sent to stripbars!

even if they DID enable file sharing, you only have rights to the icq shared file, which defaults under the icq level of the program files directory. anyone smart enough to change this is smart enough to change their file sharing settings appropriately.

Ashiwi, I understand your angle, but let me interject here.

1 - He ran his mouth and pissed me off.
2 - He is attempting to portray childish acts of computer vandalism as not only simple, but a game. Bear in mind this is illegal, and then he wants to insult people regarding a topic he doesn't even understand. For what it is worth, I am offended by his disneyesque portrayal of an art form. Given the right variables and circumstances over a period of time, I probably could wipe someone's HD clean remotely, but I sure as hell couldn't do it by clicking a button on ICQ that says 'delete windows directory.'

Your first statement is subjective so it is moot. Second my math does suck up to the calc level because i have been out of math for some time and am too lazy to go downstairs and re-learn it. Third, yes 1+1=2 but 1+1 is also !=0 which is what i was trying to prove

but since my keyboard doesnt have the "not equal-to sign" i used !=. Either go back to boyscouts and learn how to create a flame from your sticks, string and wood or buy yourself a damn lighter foo.

File sharing is on by default, thus port 139, 427 and often a couple others are left open for a simple portscan.

Just start a package cap, run throgh the list, you can find the ICQ messages easily, they are not encrypted like on msn. c/paste the IP into telnet or an SSH client, hit up an open port and tada!

Access to all fat32 devices and all local resources... Say, copy over the old dos files... and mmMmm can you say print /d prn:lpt1 /p smile.txt

where smile.txt contains the following...
