Music while mudding
Music while mudding
Well, if you listen to music while mudding, what do you listen to? I listen to a mix of stuff, mostly Metallica, Soundgarden, The Crystal Method, other techno stuff, System of a down, and of course other random songs.
So what does everyone else listen too?
Oh yeah, and some beastie boys

Lalsed the Druid of Destruction...?

I have an interesting taste in music, depending on my mood.
If I'm trying to get into a mood where I can just go and play my char perfectly, then it's metal for sure.
Amorphis, Children of Bodom, In Flames, Immortal are a few good ones.
For just messin' around, exploring, etc, I'll listen to more of a progressive rock genre, mostly
Dream Theater, Rush, and R.E.M, sometimes a bit of older U2.
Sometimes I listen to other stuff, but rap and techno-ish music are big "NO"'s. :-)

The Crystal Method needs to produce another album. Vegas was simply brilliant.
It's really a shame Soundgarden broke up. They had quite a bit of talent. Especially Chris, he has an extremely broad range with his vocals.
As for music I listen to (my life revolves around music), it all depends.
At times, I'll sit and listen to various operas (La Bohemme, Phantom, etc.), or Andrea Bocelli's arias. Another guy with great vocal range.
Others I listen to ska, punk, rocksteady, and reggae. It can be anything from really heady political punk like Bad Religion to random silly ska songs like the Aquabats to just plain ole MxPx and the like. I love The Hippos. Those boys are wicked smaht.
I occasionally throw on the Black Crowes (usually 'The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion'. I still need to get 'Shake Your Moneymaker'.)
Metal I go for Ozzy or Anthrax (Stomp 442 is fantabulous).
Electronic umm... Hmm... The Crystal Method, DJ BT (he should do more collaborating with M. Doughty of Soul Coughing), Astral Projection, Raymond Wave, the usual trance and whatnot type stuffs.
That or I play classical music.
For some reason, I don't listen to a lot of classic rock whilst mudding. Maybe because I'm too busy playing other things.

Grungar! Your a doofus! TCM - The Crystal Method is coming out with a new album, July 31ist I think, named Tweekend. Geez, where you been, in a closet?
Also, Chris Cornell is producing with RATM since their singer left, that'll be some interesting music, and I agree, Soundgarden was awesome.

But it varies, depending on my mood.
I find jazz and trancey type electronica are the best for coding and writing areas...gets you into that zen state neccessary to churn out dozens of descriptions that no one will ever read.

I listen to Miles Davis Kinda Blue. Best jazz album ever (#1 selling jazz album ever).
If you like jazz check out Kurt Rosenwinkel's Intuit or the next step on Verve. Have to admit that he is my brother but he has been called the future of Jazz.
Enjoy.

Pretty much What Lonel said. You da man!
And word on the street was that Chuck D. was going to be the new Lead for RATM, was this just some rumor? Chuck D. has one of the best voices for hard rap there ever was. I don't really get into rap much anymore... but he sure could belt out the lyrics.

Well.. I pretty much listen to what I do normally.. From three different genres:
Immortal, In Flames, At the Gates, Arcturus, Therion, Death, Emperor, Nevermore, Opeth, Symphony X.. (With Immortal and Opeth the best for playing an evil char.. as I always do)..
And then Portishead, Massive Attack and Tricky..
And finally Kansas, Spock's Beard, Jethro Tull, Yes...
Laxlez / Togk
(and Fierthor on Soj1)

I listen to all kinds of stuff from Metallica to Wes Montgomery. Right now I'm listening to Allen Vizzuti's Carnival of Venus (classical). Anyone who plays a trumpet needs to hear this piece. It is the definition of someone having inhuman musical skill. Guess I should listen to something different. There's just something wrong about a troll listening to classical :P

At one time on soj2, I had zmud start different songs when entering different zones. it worked pretty well. If I was in the same zone for too long, it would randomly play one of the more generic songs. this is related to my sound f/x post insofar as the music came from warcraft2.
I'd swear that at least one of THOSE songs though was ripped from the conan soundtrack.
it was pretty cool though... enter gloomhaven, sinister music starts playing...enter bloodstone, crazy music starts playing, etc...

Ahh, so there are others out there that listen to them. I still get wierd looks from most people when I ask them if they have ever heard of Clan of Xymox, then all those people promptly asking "Who?". Even the music stores never heard of them. Glad there are others out there that have heard of them.

Dude! Dude. No, really, dude.
How could we all forget the ultimate RPG/Mud music, the soundtrack from "Conan the Barbarian"?
Oh. Hey. Tomorrow I go see Moby, the Roots, Paul Oakenfold, New Order (with Billy Corgan on guitar), OutKast and some others. Yay me. Dunno if it will be as good as the Radiohead show I saw last month, but I hope so.

all kinds of stuff!
George Thorogood
The Who
STP
Beethoven
Metallica
G&R
Bob Dylan
Simon and Garfunkel
various rap artists
Led Zepplin
Pink Floyd
and a whole slew of various 50's-80's music.
It also depends on my mood of course. Nothing like doing second gate house while listening to Disposable Heroes, "BACK TO THE FRONT!"
