Waterdeep OC of Necromancer

Postby Bopple » Wed Jan 31, 2001 11:29 am

Are necromancers oc from Waterdeep?
I've seen some bunch of articles about that subject, but not official remark.
(maybe i missed the official one)
Would someone enlighten me about this
matter?

No. Necros and Antis will be able to enter town as long as they don't have undead with them. Reason: guards can't discern a nec from another mage or an anti from a regular warrior. WD will however not have guilds for them, they need to go to the dreaded keep of BloodStone for that.

Is this a change? I seem to remember that Necros and Antis were OC from all towns regular OC's were banned from.

Yes, it is a change.

Sorry, I seem to have totally forgotten to post the announcement about the new outcast rules to the website. I'll do so today.

It'd be nice if BG had a guild for necros too. Even if they cant start there. At least they wouldn't have to run across the world just to prac.

okies. just making sure that it stays. i read cherza's post to say that the guilds would only be in BS (yuck, I hate BS). Thanks for clearing that up Kia.

That guild is a remnant of a distant past...

I think Krist posted in the SOS2 egroup that the necro guild in WD would be inaccessible and that only BS would have a necro guild.

He mentioned that although necs could enter WD, the town would never ever allow necros to 'actively' practise their art there or have a guild.

Maybe the staff changed their mind though... but I would find it rather stupid to have a necro guild in WD.

p.s. looked up Kris' post: " it just doesn't make sense that a Necro would have WD as a home-town, they cant use any of their magic in the city. As a compromise,
we make the Necro's home in Bloodstone or perhaps Baulders gate."

Why would Waterdeep tolerate a Thieves Guild? It could be a secret Necromancer Guild, don't ya know.

You're using square brackets ([ ]) instead of (< >).

Well there used to be a necromancers guild in WD. It was a leftover from when BS haden't been fully coded yet I think. It became invokers guild in soj2. Im just wondering where the illusionests guild will be.

When Soj2 went down, what were the races available for a necromancer? I'm trying to remember, was it Human, Drow, and Yuan-Ti only? Or am I missing a race? I know there was a few human necros who became lichs, and one Yuan-Ti, but I don't remember seeing anyone progress as a drow necro very high, or ever making lich. Perhaps there was and I missed em, does anyone remember? I'm curious if Drow Lichs are still blind in the daylight is why I'm asking. Theoretically they shouldn't be since they are undead now, but since I haven't been one myself or seen one, I'm curious how Soj handled it.

Hrmm, hope Shevy posts that Outcasting Rules post soon! =)
