how come it doesn't block spells it should like vampiric touch earthquake and others?

My guess is its just a balance issue. Levitate fly also don't block quake.

As it is then it is helping players just as much as it is helping mobs though

I don't know if this is the case or not, but I'm guessing that globe won't block any 'touch' type of attacks.
