pet spells

Postby Revenki » Fri Jun 01, 2001 4:32 am

I know this is an idea from EQ but I think it would be pretty cool if we could get messages when our pet's spells wore off, being a necro I cast protect undead on my pets but I have no idea when it wears off or when I should cast it again.

DI seems unsolvable, haste is easy, are they getting the haste attack or not? I didn't mean that last one snippy or rude, sorry. PC's have to go to the trouble of coming up with triggers for that stuff. I just think it'd be attributed to part of playing a "soloable" class. It's a good idea, just don't think it fits. I would think it totally unfair if a bashing warrior has to wait for his vit, stone, etc. trigger to get through to make his caster aware, when a necro or shaman can just get the message instantly.

But the thing I see here is this.. at least a player CAN tell a caster when they need to be revitted/stoned/hasted, etc... It still gets the message across no matter if there's bash lag invovled or not. A pet owner has no idea unless they are constantly glancing and monitoring their pet to make sure it is protected.

The problem is protect undead doesn't show up on pet just like mentioned with other spells like di or haste. There's currently no way to tell when it wears off the pet.

Well, Revenki, when I was testing out wraiths on Alpha, I basically tried casting protect undead every once in a while and once I kept doing that, I got a 'feel' for the timing of the spell. You should be able to figure out the timing once you've been playing with wraiths for a while (which I know you will since exp is sooooo s l o w).

would it be able to send score to other ppl or : o fol 'score' me , to send pet score info?

Maybe make it too easy but it would solve the problem somewhat....

The only enchantments wraiths cast on themselves automatically are minor globe and coldshield, and then only in battle. Both of those are of course glanceable anyway.

What about a 'divine enchantments' type of spell, whereby a caster can see what enchantments a target is affected by? It wouldn't necessarily be necromancer-specific though.

< 219h/158H 130v> cast 'protect undead' me

You start chanting...

Casting: protect undead *******

< 217h/158H 130v>
Casting: protect undead *

< 217h/158H 130v>
You complete your spell...
The target is not undead!

unless this all changed...

since necro spells are in effect one circle behind you, you can order them to cast any of your spells outside of battle. you can have them coldshield and minor globe before the fight if you want, prot undead before the fight, start the fight by c 'wither' or c 'ray'....etc.

so at the end of each fight just order follower c 'prot undead' self (or whatever that spell is)

BTW, you can't cast protection from undead on an undead mob (or pet).
