narrow rooms, small animals & fly
narrow rooms, small animals & fly
grrrrrrrr
is there anything at all more annoying than bumping into a fox, bunny rabbit, sparrow, squirrel or any of the plethera of tiny creatures while traveling in a room with fly that has a ceiling of 500 feet?
I propose that this be changed just for convienince sake. One way rooms are great in zones and stuff like that, but traveling along any type of road that has a huge height while flying and bumping into things less than 1 foot tall is just.... well stupid
example:

Edge of a Small Stream (Water)
A five foot long wooden bridge crosses over a mountain
spring here, that measures about four feet wide and two
feet deep. The stream actually moves at a good clip,
flowing in a general north-east direction through the
foothills. The bridge is made from wooden planks nailed
to thick logs that create a gradual arch overtop the
stream. The road continues to the north towards the
Cloud Peak mountains.
Room size: Mid-sized (L:5 ft W:42 ft H:500 ft)
Exits: -N -S
A furry rabbit wanders about here, keeping a wary eye open for trouble.
A small red fox is wandering around the area, looking for food.
even with this room being 5 feet wide I *think* I could maneuver my petite human form around a rabbit and a fox! *especially* while flying! Then having to get on all fours to crawl *underneath* these same creatures? Heh, gimme a break
example:
Oof! It seems that a centaur priest is in your way.

A Rocky Promontory
The rocky promontory starts its decent to the north here. Being above the
tree canopy allows a clear view of all the surrounding area. Quite some way
to the east a spire protrudes out of the forest. Apart from this the sea of
green to the east is largely unbroken. To the north the forest continues with
the coastline continuing to curve outward the further north it goes. A
mountain range rears up from the forest floor not all that far to the north
of here.

This example is even sillier than the first..
50x50x500 yet I have to crawl *under* all of the things in the room? Not to even mention that one of those things is a SNAKE!!! hrrrrrrmmmmmmmm
thanks for listning!

Well, two choices for me here:
1) Drastically re-code the single file routines to account for body sizes vs. room sizes, free space, etc etc. or..
2) Bug areamakers to get rid of pointless single file rooms.
Guess which one I'm thinking of doing..

If yer talkin about getting into and out of WD with the gates closed you can. There is a way in "WITHOUT" having gates picked.
That's no moon, it's a SPACE STATION!
Maybe they aren't really rabbits, maybe they're alien invaders portaling in to take over faerun, that explains why the fuzzy bunnies so HUGE. Or maybe they're are bumble bee illusionists making themselfs look like bunnies, then they poke you in the eyes, and that hurts, and you swat them and they get mad then they stick you some more, so you hit them with your club and they go smoosh.
And in the immortal words of Minsc the Ranger, "Look Boo, squirrels, quick throw nuts."

Actually when I walk I always do so with all my limbs flailing wildly about in a completely random motion. This keeps people a healthy distance away from me. Also while I'm walking and swinging my fists and kicking wildly I like to shout in a really loud voice, "If I happen to be doing this and you get too close to me and I punch or kick you, it's not my fault!"

Creatures are flagged for size and if they're animals right? How about a single word command that allows you to step over small creatures or animals in a single file room with no aggrs? Hell, even make mobs able to do it.
Step rabbit
A rabbit scampers out of the way as you step past it.
(you switch places with it in the room order)
Heck...even have it work with players too.
Would that require severely altering room files? Just a simple command that checks size/flag and switches the order?
