New Social Commands
New Social Commands
Allright boys and girls, your friendly neighborhood Demon has a request for you..
Coming up in a month or two I'm going to be reviewing, updating, and adding to our social commands. What I need from you guys (giving you plenty of time) are new socials to add, or ones to fix that you think are broken, or ones you'd like to see revised as they just don't work for you.
You've got a few months to think about it, post ideas, etc, so let me know...and try to keep them workable if possible, need valid ideas, not 800 different personal ones that I have to wade through to get to the good ones.
thanks and have fun with it :)

What a great idea!
Of course, Grungar's 'wedgie' social is a great idea. Two thumbs up for that one.
I'd just like to mention that exile mud had a social command that I really, really enjoyed using: golf-clap (or gclap for short). It's a snooty, polite clap used to applaud feats. I use this in preference to 'clap' because when you type 'clap' on soj3, it just says 'You clap your small hands together.', which makes it seem like you clap your hands together once to make a sound. gclap is also more sarcastically funny than applaud.

About clap, I always found it odd that no matter what your race it is always 'you clap your little hands togethor' I see trolls and ogres and orcs as having large hands, but maybe I am being just too nitpicky :P
This is not really the place, but I just though of this, and probably alot of people will read this topic:
I would also like to take this time to apologize for my actions last week. I dont know who it was, but I was in the Mir Forest and I was fighting Satyrs, and I had been called away so I put all my illuminating eq back on, and was heading back when I stumbled into a room where another individual was fighting a satyr, and I did not realize I had my illuminating eq on, as it was late, and I then decided to go afk to get some quick food. When I came back, the perosn had finished the fight, but had taken quite a few hits as the satyr was not blind. I came back just as he finished the battle. Please accept my apology for any hard ships that may have caused, whoever that was, I felt smaller than the smallest microbacteria on the face of the planet after that.

Yeah, I love playing with the social commands. The thread for my wedgie command is somewhere in Ideas, I think. I have utterly no clue. I usually post late at night, and it results in some wacky wacky stuff. A couple I really like are bonk self, boggle self, toss self, grumble self, and umm some others I can't recall now.
laugh self needs to be changed, I think. I don't know what it looks like on the other end, same with the aforementioned self commands that I like, but you get a message that's something like "You look in the mirror and laugh." It's cool when you laugh at another thing, like my horse. My horse, Ed, cracks me up. laugh horse yields "You point at him and burst out in laughter." or something like that. laugh self should be changed to something along the lines of "You start laughing to yourself" or perhaps at yourself, not sure which. I use it for both. No clue what other people in the room see.
I also think bathe should be fixed. I dunno how often people bathe each other or themselves, but something about it just tended to bug me a bit. I don't have the specifics. Perhaps I should take a nap, then think about this a little bit more.
Yeah, nap then think, that's good Grungar.

Juggle: have fun with the ansi, I think it would be a cool social if you could code it so whatever is typed after juggle is what is juggled: juggle knives:
You juggle three knives to the amusement of onlookers.
Tayros deftly juggles three knives in an attempt to impress you.
Juggle (by itself)
You juggle several tasks at once! Aren't you the organizer!
Tayros juggles several tasks at once! Give him more to do!

Pimp slap! - just classically funny.
greet -kindof like welcome or hello
wait -so you can type wait and see a message like WAIT!! Nitania needs something. (or something like that)
I know I have more ideas.. but just a general reformating of the old commands... some of the messages are just plain cheezy.

Well I liked the old bark social from way back. I've always been a ranger and people bark at me as a sigh to barkskin them and I liked the old man. Too bad I don't remember what it was.
Also there should be a "feh" social added. Everyone does it now. Not sure how it should go. I'm sure one of the more creative players will come up with something.

Bill the cat is from ummmmm that cartoon with Opus the penguin. Jeez, what's it called. Bill would always say ack and make this funny face.
Anyways, wet needs to be changed so it can be performed while sleeping.
Yeah, I find it's odd you can't salute people when they're lying down.
A good night's sleep would help, ok night everyone.

Hahaha, you are obviously too young to know about 'Opus' or even 'Outland' comic strips, if you were old enough, you'd know who Bill the Cat is.

The "melt" social was removed because mages were always "melting" instead of memming. Got annoying to be in a group and every coupld minutes someone would melt.

Ok, I guess I'm REALLY old? I remember Bill the cat from the good 'ol days before Outland... Bloom County :P I seem to remember him coughing up lots of fur balls. Now there's a social...
>furball
>You hack and cough until a giant wad of fur pops out!
Others see:
>Vipplin hacks and coughs until a large furball erupts from his mouth.
You could even furball someone else...
>Vipplin hacks and coughs, sending a large furball bouncing off your nose.

chew - Cherzra chews on something green and slimy
finger - Cherzra tries to eat her finger, but it just grows back
lurk - Cherzra lurks in the bogs around you, roaming the swamp
bridge - As you approach, Cherzra growls and climbs from under the bridge claiming it as her own
Hard-coded to be usable by me only of course, but it will remove 4 aliases from my zmud settings!

Got a few more, see whatcha think.
Looks to me like Xassarod needs a bop on the head, he seems to have gotten outta hand again.
bop xassarod
You see:
You pick Xassarod up and bop him on the head.
Xassarod sees:
Grungar picks you up and bops you on the head. Ouch!
People in the room see:
Grungar picks Xassarod up and bops him on the head.
bop self
You see:
You somehow manage to pick yourself up and bop yourself on the head.
People in the room see:
Grungar picks himself up and bops himself on the head. How'd he do that?
Now for bop with no arguments:
bop
You see:
You pick up a field mouse and bop him on the head. What are you, Little Bunny Foo Foo?
People in the room see:
Grungar picks a field mouse up and bops him on the head. He must think he's Little Bunny Foo Foo.
Sompin like that, yeah. Stupid Little Bunny Foo Foo, now that's stuck in my head.
Moo!
Who doesn't like to moo at people?
Moo, no args.
You see:
Moooooooo!
People in the room see:
Grungar stops chewing his cud and moos like a cow.
moo self:
You see:
You moo at yourself. Mooooooo!
People in the room see:
Grungar moos at himself, he's gone over the edge for sure.
moo Thippimble:
You see:
You moo at Thippimble.
Thippimble sees:
Grungar looks at you with big cow eyes and moos.
People in the room see:
Grungar moos at Thippimble. He must think she's a cow. (or possibly, He must think she speaks cow)
I know bop is kinda like bonk, but I like bopping things here & there.
Putting ANSI in the socials would be pretty cool. Perhaps if I could find TE on my comp, I'd play with the ANSI and come up with some suggestions. If you'd like, I can do this, once I find it.

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh, just thought of some other things, man, am I quick today or what?
Brainfart! Dunno how many people would use this, dunno if I would even, just throwing it out there.
brainfart, no args
You see:
Eureka! A great idea just popped into your head.
People in the room see:
A small lightbulb appears over Grungar's head. It appears as though he has an idea.
brainfart Tilandal:
You see:
After much pondering about Tilandal, an idea pops into your head.
Tilandal sees:
Grungar stares at you and seems to be thinking about you. Creepy.
People in the room see:
After staring at Tilandal for a while, Grungar seems to have come up with an idea!
Perhaps idea is better than brainfart, but idea currently logs ideas in some wacky file.
I think dance needs to be fixed, spruced up a bit. I'll think some more about that one.
Would it be more trouble than it's worth to code something to keep track of socials, how often they're used, etc? Or would that just waste processor power and coder time?
More to come later.

I loved this social back in 92 on EOTL. They had a few movie related socials there. This one got a lot of use from yours truly.

Needs to be a 'blame' one.
blame gormal
You place the blame firmly on Gormal.

I post here too much, don't I?
Got another two ideas. They go hand in hand with my wedgie idea. Swirly and pants. You can tell what kinda childhood I had
Pants first. I know we already have pant, but we need pants. Everyone needs pants.
pants self
You see:
You drop your drawers. Is there a draft in here?
Room sees:
Grungar drops his drawers. Ick.
pants (target) (yeah, I know, I ran out of friends to use in my posts.):

(target) sees:
Eek! You just got pantsed by Grungar! You blush out of embarrassment.
Room sees:

Swirly! I dunno if they have toilets with which to swirly someone in the Forgotten Realms or not, but here goes.
swirly self:
You see:
You dunk your head in the toilet and flush.
Room sees:
FLUSH! Grungar dunks his head in the toilet and flushes.
swirly (target):
You see:

Room sees:
FLUSH! Grungar grabs (target) by the ankles, dunks his/her/its head in the toilet, and flushes!
You have just witnessed a swirly!
You should report this to all of your friends to further (target)'s embarrassment.
Sure, that last one may be a bit spammy, but I'm tired and wacky and it makes perfect sense to me. I really should get sleep more often. Sleep is such a wonderful, delicious thing.

Sure, that last one may be a bit spammy, but I'm tired and wacky and it makes perfect sense to me. I really should get sleep more often. Sleep is such a wonderful, delicious thing.

I'd personally rather have a 'pinky' social that randomly says one of the following:
Narf!
Poit!
Zort!
Egad!
Fjord!

It's been nearly a year since ideas, and there's a bajillion and one more important things to code, but when ya get around to it, I had another idea for a social...
Syntax: phew (argument optional)
phew (no args)
You see:
PHEW! That was a close one!
Room sees:
Phew! Grungar wipes the sweat from his brow. That was a close one!
phew self does the same.
phew miax
You see:
You look at Miax and say, 'Phew, that was a close one!'
Miax sees:
Grungar looks at you and says, 'Phew, that was a close one!'
Room sees:
Grungar looks at Miax and says 'Phew, that was a close one!'
This would work well with the sweat social. Sweat first before a big battle, phew after a really close call. Maybe an aloha and a mahalo social would be good. I know wave has the word aloha in it, but you can never have too much aloha. Or mahalo. Yeah.

We need a ymir social... the Mori social I can see, but it's up to you. And a Nermal social would be cool as well.
