Bandage

Postby rylan » Mon Nov 04, 2002 2:05 pm

Hey, whats everyone think about making the bandage skill more useful. By that I mean, with a higher skill, bandage heals more hps when you're negative.. so combined with death pact it can be really useful if someone has a really high bandage skill. Instead of bandaging someone from -60 to -58, with a high skill it could do something like 20 or 30hps.
And allow people with a higher skill to bandage (for less hps of course) people who are in awful condition.

What?! I want everyone else to have to go through doing 28,000+ bandages to max it out like Nokie had to!

lol Nokie.. didn't take me nearly as long Image
It was somewhat annoying to practice, but my max_wis eq helped a lot.
It was annoying getting it maxed and seeing no differance in how it worked tho.. its enough of a pain to practice that most people won't bother even if its changed to be a cool skill, but I'd still like to see it do something like I suggested.

There's a bug in bandage that makes it work (in most instances) every time after you get it to a minimal skill level.

I can fix the bug if you really want.

I'm not asking for it to fail Kia Image
I think it should be no fail, but its effect increase with higher skill level.

Heh. the point, I think, is that it shouldn't take ~10 bandages to bring someone from morted back to health... maybe make bandage take a little more time depending on the extent of injury, and make entering another command abort it?

well if it was made if your skill sucked you failed, it would 1) bring back the realism to it..
2) make people practice it
3) make it a useful skill again

i like the idea of the better the skill the better you heal.

i think if it was made so if low skill u had high failure rate.. i might like that too

and with death pact this would realy make senese to fix now Image

Please fix the bandage bug. I see new players abusing it all the time by getting morted and then healed back to 0 hps so they can continue fighting those non-vicious mobs. If you have two players bandaging, the possibilities are endless for abuse. I also see lvl 50 players twinking rares and zones like Bronze citadel using creative bandage techniques. Go in, get morted. . . bandage up to 0, and have at it! So abusable =(

Please, think of the children.

Hrmmm I might be wrong here, but I think that "bug" was put in because years ago for a good reason. Basically bandaging was pkill. Granted this was better then, and a little after, the drag the corpses to a dog to eat and loot the eq days, but still done with a reason (that is if I remember correctly and since I'm an old gnome gone evil who knows!).

On the subject of doing more healing etc...*shrug*

Wasn't a bug, was delibratly put in so we wouldn't keep killing each other.

Mebe skill level of bandage sets you to 0 at a certain percent chance. So you wouldn't have to bandage deathpacked people like mad.

i think its a good idea but there should also be a penalty for a lower skill lvl like you can actaully hurt somone at a lower lvl(low chance risk)
