Accusations...

Postby Nilan » Fri Dec 17, 2004 3:41 pm

Nilan sat alone in the shadows of Vhaeraun’s temple. Often a place of solitude and relaxation for the drow, tonight such comfort was no where to be found. A magi of House Rilynt'Tar, had been found assassinated. Word on the streets pointed to another prominent House as being “involved”. Though none would move openly against the “involved” House without further proof. Drow retribution and politics.

Nilan groaned audibly. As if that wasn’t enough, Rilynt'Tar’s War-leader had been seen staggering back into Dobluth Kyor, suffering from injuries. The assassin shared an ‘allegiance’ with House Rilynt'Tar, after returning their daughter home safely during what had now become known as the “Ring Quest and Fall of Bloodstone”. To say that the Hand of Vhaeraun was concerned, was an understatement.

Amidst it all the assassin was forced to consider new happenings. Words had begun to trickle in about an attack on the great silver dragon. Her lair breached, Tvorlite bodies strewn about, and blood….dragon blood. Accusations flew, none of which the drow had yet confirmed. Though it was Targsk’s words that echoed in his mind. “What have you done, Nilan. The allies blame you for this attack….”

In truth the assassin, did not know. The Silver did not share an affinity for him, that much was true, but this? And an attack on her in her lair? The drow thought back on the mysterious missive that was placed in his hands during the daylight hours moons ago. Though he could not see the identity of the messenger, at darkness the writings on the parchment became clear ---They know of the lair of the Silver, they seek the speaker---.

He had sent that warning to the allied forces. Was it disregarded, not acted upon, or was it simply not considered a threat? The drow could not be sure. What he was certain of was that the allies now pointed to him as the one responsible. Targsk’s words cut into him like a knife.

The assassin rose to his feet, his expression cold yet stoic. He would not run. He needed answers. Were these rumors that had reached him true? He needed information. So little time left….So many loose ends.
