Restoration of the Alliance, Part 1

Postby Yasden » Tue Dec 28, 2004 4:42 pm

Targsk stood before the altar of Vhaeraun, Nilan slightly in rear, before Dlavizz. His missive had become quite clear, as Dlavizz gave it to the troll, fully confident that the General of the Alliance of Dark Forces would carry it out without fail.

'Kill this "priest", General. Our alliance depends on it, and the future of this coming war.'

The troll only offered one comment. 'You want head on pike or platter?' he said with a truly sadistic grin.

Targsk was tired of the games the missionary played. He was tired of the alliance continuously being thrust into jeopardy by every power-hungry human that had no clue what was really going on. Dlavizz knew it, and the rest of the alliance knew the General would singlehandedly take on the missionary and his pets if he must.

'A pike would be appropriate, I think. Heads tend to slide off platters too easily,' Dlavizz replied with an equal grin.

A quick salute and nod were given by Targsk, as he left the altar. Nilan fancied himself a low bow, arms crossed, his tradition when dealing with anything Vhaeraun-related, and followed the troll.

'Tell me Targsk,' the drow begun as the troll immediately resumed his training, 'what is your plan in dealing with this priest?'

The troll ceased his training, looking at the drow with irritation. 'Why tell everyone so many times? He NOT PRIEST! Wise man say so, 'member?'

'Fine then, the missionary. What do you plan on doing? I think you should talk to the lady knight Teej.'

'Already send messenger, Velg'larn,' Targsk muttered, quickly swiping a bandage across one of the slaves in the House Zauviir pen. The slaves were whipped and beaten almost daily, so it was an excellent way for the troll to practice his battlefield first aid. He'd gotten quite proficient at it too, but it still wasn't up to his personal standards.

'She hates me, Targsk. Teej would kill me and put my own head on a pike if she had the chance after what Teflor and Ayra have blackmailed me for.'

The two humans had set the drow up quite cleverly, Teflor using his "employ" under the assassin as a linking alibi so that the dragons would accuse the drow of being responsible for the attack on Tskchanar, the silver dragon. Whether or not Teflor had planned this all along, or Ayra was simply using the ranger, no one knew. Teflor wanted Nilan's aid in dispatching the missionary, and Nilan had to comply, despite the fact the troll was prepared to ambush the fool as it were.

'Meet with her. Alliance depend on it,' was all the troll said in reply.

'You would watch me be killed then?,' the drow asked, the sound of nervousnes in his voice.

Targsk shrugged. 'She brave woman, strong. Stubborn too. But she not destroy alliance 'cause she mad at Velg'larn.'

The drow nodded in affirmation. 'I guess you are right, but I still think she will kill me when she gets the chance.'

'Dlavizz say protect alliance, no matter cost. It greater than you or me. I promise Dlavizz that if Teej attack you, I no defend you. Might try stop fight, but no take sides.'

The drow got wide-eyed, and stammered a few moments before finally putting together a coherent sentence. He was obviously shocked, and probably hurt and felt betrayed.

'You would let these human dogs kill me? You would betray me?,' he said, his hand on Shadow's hilt.

'No, I say I no defend you. You sneaky drow, you escape good. I no worried about you. How else you get to be Velg'larn and Chosen if not?'

The drow seemed somewhat relaxed, but still held the tension in his tone of voice. 'Fine. I will meet with her, and let her do what she must to appease the "Alliance",' he said acidicly, 'but if I die, my death is on your shoulders General.'

The troll smirked, if you could call it that. It was more like a stupid grin, akin to those of ogres bathing in feces. 'I have more than your death on shoulders if Alliance fails and we lose war, drow. Every time lose someone in battle with silversaan or thanatars, death on shoulders. You no different. She no kill you, dragons maybe, but she no kill you, if she good leader.'

At that point, a drow slipped into the slave pen, nodding at Targsk, handed him a rolled parchment, then left just as quickly as he came. The troll unrolled it, glanced over it. "General, meet in Undermountain. Hall of Many Pillars. No prying eyes." She'd kept it simple so his very limited literacy skills could understand the gist of it.

'Teej wait for me. Undermountain. I not know place, get lost. Take me there Velg'larn, can talk to her if want, or hide. Up to you.'

'Very well. Remember what I said though.'

The two started their trek below Dobluth Kyor, along the river, to the hidden access portal to Undermountain. As they entered, the once-peaceful Per attacked, and the troll quickly killed it.

'Per not nice now?'

'He hasn't been for a while, General.'

The troll shrugged. 'He dead now, no worries. Halaster probably bring back to life anyway after we leave.'

Nilan escorted the troll through several minor skirmishes, making their way deeper into Undermountain, eventually coming to their destination. The dark knight was waiting for him, and didn't seem phased that the drow had accompanied Targsk.

Both generals nodded to each other, respectively. Nilan removed his daggers, in a gesture of surrender, almost immediately.

'Keep your weapons at the ready, fool,' Teej said to the drow, acknowledging that she had no intention of attacking him. With that, the drow resumed his normal battle readiness.

'Let's get started,' Teej said.
