Restoration of the Alliance, Part 2

'First off, lady knight,' Nilan began, 'I want you to know I am not responsible for the attack on Tskchanar.'

'You harbored a spy, who betrayed you. You are not responsible for the attack, but you are responsible for your spy's actions,' she replied coldly.

The drow seemed to not hear her response, as he continued. 'I would never do anything to endanger the alliance, everything I've ever done has been to help us, to prevent my city and the Realms from being destroyed.'

'Then why did you harbor a spy?'

'I'm not the only one here who has spies, lady knight,' the drow said with a glare.

'But my spy still reports to me,' she shot back. 'When did Teflor stop reporting to you?'

'A while back,' he said with a resigned sigh.

'Then it should've been mentioned to all of us, for that you are responsible. He should've been dealt with back then, and this missionary wouldn't be such a threat to us right now.'

The troll gave a slight chuckle, having a sudden thought.

'Glad you find this so amusing Targsk,' the drow said.

'Not funny, drow. Just sound like Cirath, Teflor brothers. Both do same thing seems like.'

Teej and Nilan looked at each other quizzically, as if either the troll had gone mad, or they'd never considered the thought. The troll shrugged and resumed sharpening a boot knife on a whetstone, listening to the two reconcile their differences.

The two argued back and forth about the semantics of responsibility and spies, the troll eventually finishing sharpening every blade in his weapons arsenal.

'Let talk about ambush plan,' the troll finally interrupted, trying to change the subject, rubbing his temples as though he had a headache. 'You two talk much, make head hurt.'

Teej nodded at the troll, apparently glad the previous discussion was over. 'Yes, let's. I've many thoughts on the plan...what are yours, Targsk?'

'Not sure, only know that silversaan problem if it come with him. So kill it first.'

'Yes, that sounds like a good idea. But what of the rest of your plan? Where had you planned on striking?'

'No sure. Maybe wait at monolith, ambush when he come. You have idea?,' the troll asked curiously, noticing she'd obviously come up with a brilliant plan.

'For now, Ticarios and Sonon will be escorting the missionary there. Sonon, of course, is clueless, and will be dealt with the moment we strike.'

'Other knight fight for us then?'

Teej nodded at him, then continued. 'As to who else accompanies the Tvorlite that day, I do not know. But rest assured that none of them other than Sonon will be an enemy.'

The troll seemed satisfied with this, nodding for her to continue. 'Where fight at?'

'Well, I originally thought the monolith itself would be a good spot, but in light of recent foolish boys who fancy themselves archmages using clairvoyance, I figure we do it on the least likely spot possible. The Luskan Ferry.'

The troll grinned gleefully, the thought of battle on a ship making him reminisce of his days as a pirate mercenary. 'Like this plan. What we do about traitors?'

'Teflor and Ayra are to be with us. When they board, your group will attack the silversaan, since you have the resources of illithids to help dispatch the creature far more easily. My crew will focus on the missionary.'

'Traitors die after, then?' the troll asked.

'Correct. While they are vulnerable and exhausted. Sonon will be dead at the onset of battle, as he is the only one clueless to this entire operation.'

Targsk managed a snicker before Teej continued. 'Nilan, you and I need to go speak to Tocx'enth'orix.'

The drow, who'd been busy studying the features of the room, spun around. 'What?! So she can eat me?!'

'You need to answer to her for your mistake, as I will answer to her for mine,' she explained.

'Seems both of you generals want me to put my neck on the block today,' the drow said with a sigh.

'If she kills you, we can just have you brought back. Without the dragons' help, we are doomed.'

The troll nodded. 'She right, Velg'larn. Alliance important above all else. Dragons part of alliance.'

'Fine,' Nilan spat. 'I will go.' The drow was not used to having to risk himself openly to danger. Twice in one year was bad, twice in one day was catastrophic.

'Targsk, I will contact you with correspondence with our plan so that this goes smoothly,' Teej said, barely managing to squeeze her hand around three of the troll's fingers in an attempt at a handshake. With that, she led her nightmare out of the room in the direction back toward the Yawning Portal Inn.

'Velg'larn, follow her after you get me out of this stupid place,' the troll said.

The drow said nothing, motioning for the troll to follow, obviously furious with both generals.

The troll shrugged, and looked at the inside of his hand. A small note was stuck between his fingers. Making sure the drow was not looking, he quickly flipped his fingers up in a mock gesture of scratching his forehead, reading it.

'Meet Ticarios by Stephan's. Bloodstone.'
