Houseless in a Housed City

Postby Futaz » Wed Jun 15, 2005 6:21 pm

A drow warrior staggered in past the gates of Dubluth Kyor and begins wandering the streets. In his wandering he comes across two warriors one an orc the other a drow.
The dire raider known as Nogpot just raises an eyebrow and returns to his tasks. While the Futaz greets the out of place drow.

The drow warrior using the secret hand language of the drow signs 'Where is the leader of this settlement?'

Futaz signs his reply 'Why should I tell you?'

A drow warrior smirks and then signs 'I bring strange news, and don't want to return to the Lloth pit. My allegiences could lie elsewhere. This is your slave?' Has he nudges Nogpot.

'He has his uses' signs Futaz ‘I will escort you to him.'

A drow warrior begins to follow Futaz though the streets of Vhaeraun’s city on his way to meet Vhaeraun’s High priest. ‘By what name are you known by’ he signs as the walk.

‘I am known as Futaz Ul’Saruk’

‘Ah, Ul’Saruk, The Weaponsmaster’ sign the warrior, 'Then Weaponsmaster, I would speak with the one who speaks for this city. Perhaps my information can earn an alliance.'

Futaz leads the warrior to Vhaeraun’s temple and gains entrance for him and the exhausted warrior. They enter the altar room of the temple and Futaz bow before the altar. The portal above the altar is opened Dlavizz Rhe'Shashal, the High Priest of Vhaeraun flies decends from above. Futaz indicates to the High Priest and signs 'This the High Priest of Vhaeraun'. Dlavizz acknowledges Futaz and looks expectantly at the drow warrior at Futaz’s side. Futaz then signs 'Rhe'Shashal this warrior brings news'

Dlavizz breathes slowly, rhythmically, then his eyes widen in surprise. He looks again at the drow warrior and then at you. Eventually he signs 'It would seem so.'

The drow warrior signs 'I am here from the wilds of the Underdark, south of Gloomhaven and near the lair of the purple worm.'

Dlavizz signs 'You have guided this one to me?'

'Yes' signs Futaz as he deeply before him.

Dlavizz signs 'It shall be remembered.' He then turns to face the newcomer.

The drow warrior signs 'I am tired of awaiting the hunger of the Llothite daggers as they expand their patrols into our tunnels. The masked lord is little known, but His practices are easier tolerated by a houseless male.'

Dlavizz grins and signs 'We need more people who remember that the way to power is to make your opportunities and seize them.'

The drow warrior signs 'They have been hunting the worms for their spell components, and they are not the only ones. A woman, human and possessing the necromantic arts has been walking the Underdark with impunity. Three drow warriors fell to her in a matter of moments and serve her now.'

Dlavizz signs 'I know of one human woman who dares venture into the Underdark, and she allies herself with a necromancer, but you do not seem the type to confuse two humans for one.'

The warrior signs 'This one walks alone, but for the servants that trail in her wake. She seeks no conflict, but is swift to end it. Our poisons were of no use.'

Dlavizz signs 'Do you have information about what she seeks and what her destination is?'

The drow warrior signs 'We believe she seeks the forge.'

Futaz signs 'Poisons would be of no use on her servants. If they were equally ineffective on her she may be a lich.'

The drow warrior signs 'She emits heat like the living.'

Dlavizz signs 'Good thinking Futaz.'

Futaz signs 'So she seeks the forge of the Duergar?'

A drow warrior signs 'Not of the duergar. There is an ancient forge somewhere nearby, we have felt its power but cannot locate it.'

Dlavizz signs 'One heavy with the burden of ritual magics.'

Futaz signs 'Do you know what she intends to do with this ancient forge?'

The drow warrior signs 'It is in the tale of Vesdorn of the Forging. We observed a troupe of the surfacers, led by a dwarven warrior, venture into the area several years ago. When they emerged, the warrior bore a crown of great power upon his head.'

Futaz signs 'The king of Mithral Hall?'

The drow warrior signs 'No, one of his warriors though. Stoneforge they called him at one point. The woman's power and confidence warrants note, as does the increased presence of the Llothites. If there is a power to be harnessed there, it would be good to deny them its power.'

Dlavizz signs 'You have brought me good information, new and true. I shall find a place for you within one of our houses, if you seek it.'

The drow warrior signs 'I have not journeyed here out of philanthropy.'

Dlavizz signs 'What are you called?'

The drow warrior signs 'Zenas. My house is no longer.'

Futaz signs 'Which house was it?'

Zenas signs 'House Yolgh'il'rynimith of Ched Nasad.'

Dlavizz signs 'Your worth is based upon your worth, and perhaps you shall become adopted into another house in time.'

Zenas signs 'I will speak with their leadership then. Weaponsmaster, I thank you for your assistance.'

Zena is then lead out of the temple by an acolyte to his new house.

Dlavizz signs 'Weaponsmaster...'

Futaz signs 'Yes?'

Dlavizz signs 'Interesting, is it not?'

Futaz signs 'Tis indeed.'

Dlavizz signs 'What is your impression?'

Futaz signs 'With the forge in our control there exist my..er..many opportunities for power'

Dlavizz signs 'Such would be apparent, indeed.'

Futaz signs 'Do you wish for me to seek out this forge?'

Dlavizz signs 'Listen carefully for any rumors of a human woman with undead followers. Do not approach aggressively, Weaponsmaster, lest you learn of her destination at her heels. You have done well, Weaponsmaster. We shall be watching you.'

Dlavizz Rhe'Shashal, the High Priest of Vhaeraun opens the portal and flies up. The portal closes quietly.

‘Hmm’ ponders Futaz, ‘I wonder if Nilan has any contacts in Mithral Hall. Speak of contacts it time I visit mine in Menzoberannzan. She’ll want a gift. Hmm, she fancies those Mithral baubles from Gloomhaven. King Arty won’t miss a subject and if he does the chaos it would cause would help. And I will be long gone anyways.
