The ART of the DEAL?!!
The ART of the DEAL?!!
I have just recently been informed that I have been blackballed from certain zone groups. I have been blackballed due to my "greed" factor. I cant lie... Im not a happy camper.
Let me explained to you further the greed factor... I have been told that my trades are slanted towards me, and my bids in zone groups are always for the items of the greatest value.
Trades CANNOT occur if two or more parties CANNOT agree to the trade and conditions. EVERYONE in a trade wants the best outcome for themselves... noone ever goes into the trade going im going to get myself ripped off, im going to pay the highest possible value for the item... The trade ends... and alot people have buyer's remorse, and there has been plenty of times when i have had it. When an item you traded away goes down in value, you are happy and when an item you traded away goes up in value, you are not happy. But this all apart of trading... I dont understand why people harbor resentment towards me... enough to the point of blackballing me. If you have a problem with my trade tell me... and maybe we can work something out and if we cant, you dont have to trade with me again... You would think it would be that simple... but no i get blackballed.
Greed and my bidding... I have been told im greedy and that i bid on the highest valued item. I do and i have no regets, i do what i must. And to some, this makes me less generous because someone with their 21th fully equiped alt need that piece of eq. I agreed there is probably people out there that are more generous than me... but I ask you.
Do they have the luxury to be generous?! most of the time is YES.
Come on... people who abstain from bids are normally fully equiped on 9 of their alts and are zone leaders or leader of some guild or guildmember of a "power" guild. People who bid for the guildmates think that they are giving something up because they are not being selfish and bidding for themselves... which is BS. The reason why are you in a guild is so that you can help your guild get stronger, and when the guild gets stronger, you get stronger that doesnt mean you are beening charitable, it just means you are helping your guild... Your guild will gets nice and powerful... so you can blackball us non-guilded members. Im not asking for any charity, i have done well for myself as a non guilded player... But I dont have the luxury of passing up a bid and hope that in the next 6 months i can go the zone get another chance to bid. I dont have that support system of a guild or as a zone leader.
My generosity is in question... which is complete BS. I do my damn best to help out anyone in the game, be it in a fight to finish a quest or information and etc... I have helped my friends with eq, best i can. You can go ask them(references upon requests :P) I have never said a harsh word about anyone in the game. My jokes can be offensive sometimes, maybe very offensive. I stay away from the politics of the game... I try to have fun and i still get blackballed.
On a side note... Trading is hardwork too! People dont appreciate the hard work that goes into it. It may not be as glamous as leading a zone or guild but its work never the less. The art of the deal...

This post makes you sound like someone very concerned about equipment as their main priority.

Dont get me wrong... eq is not all this game is about. I love this game and have love it for almost 10 years. I love the interaction with everyone in this game. In this game as in life, its about progression... and the only thing that determines progression in the game, sadly is eq. Truthfully, what is the first thing you do when someone enters the room?
You look at them... why do you do that? Hrmmm to see their eq...

Why do you, Kasula, want to see their eq?
Okay, I rarely ever make posts on this damn BBS, but this thread looks like fun :P
Why do people have to single out Kasula as a "greedy trader" or "not-so-generous guy"? I know MANY other people who would rip me off in a heartbeat! This is almost ridiculous that someone has to go as far as excluding someone from groups because of what they bid on. He has an extremely good point that tons and tons of other people out there have MANY FULLY EQ'd alts out there with like the l33test of stuff (cough3+khanjariscough), but nobody singles these people out. I don't get it :P
As far as I know, Kasula only plays TWO characters. I also know that he uses the SAME set of EQ for both of them (excluding ranger only items etc etc)! So wtf is the big deal? He still has yet to complete a full set of "the best" stuff and that's all he seems to be working at. You don't see him hoarding millions of awesome items and just letting them sit in bags. I know tons of people that do that too.
Anyway I just thought this was really silly that people were acting like this towards a single individual just trying to get by in the game without an association to hold his hand.
So yeh.. there's my 2 cents. If you don't like it, go away :P

Don't blame me because you aren't an interesting person and have a problem finding anything to talk about.

So? Shouldn't it be? What does Kasula gain for his time investment by contributing to Sesexe's 5th alt or Sesexe's guild's storage?
People who take this high and mighty attitude, thinking people should freely give their time and bids when asked, are often the ones who have the most material wealth.
Welcome to the club Kasula :) I once got blacklisted because I wouldn't join a Brass group to get Verarb a scepter at 2 in the morning :) And it's hysterical that sometimes the people who yell the loudest about Sojourn's strong community are the ones who will blacklist you because you refuse to supply their guild with free equipment ;)

I have traded with kasula before. Wasn't a ripoff. But i would have to agree that the above post does make him sound kinda greedy and defensive about being greedy.
I have two characters on the mud that i play. i have a couple little ones
that i don't do much with anymore, but when i do play them, i use my main characters eq for them. I frequently "abstain" from bids. Much more frequently in the past. The reason i have moved away from abastainance in bidding is that everyone else bids on gear for their 3rd, 4th, 5th or higher alts, or to just trade it for something they need. which, i suppose, is part of the game. do i like it? no. Do i agree with it? no. but everyone is not me. If there are people in a group that have a use for the "better" items available for bid for the character they are in that group with, i will usually not bid on that item. i will find something else, as it is my belief they deserve it. I have been known to bid publicly for someone else if that person is a friend, or i think highly deserves an item. I suppose this all falls under having the "luxury" of giving to others, but i feel you must sometimes give to get. The bids i omit, the eq i give up to others in a group, makes them more likely to group with me again in the future.
As far as people "looking" at you when you enter a room. i have found that i will look at a few, occasionally, like wey wey, because he seems to have wild and exotic stuff here and there. that, and rangers look funny. for the most part, i could care less what other people are wearing.
What i think is just silly is that you would be blackballed from groups for this. yes, maybe people don't agree. maybe people don't like it, but it's just a game. blackballing people for things like that is kinda lame. Not that i lead much, but in any group i lead, you would be welcome in it Kasula. well, except that rangers are prettymuch useless. *duck*

I guess Kasula is supposed to look at others now for the same reasons Sesexe does, or play the game for the same reasons and the same goals, for that matter, and if not then that makes him somehow beneath others.
I may disagree with his actions, at times, but that's my prerogative, just as it's his prerogative to invest his time and energy into however he wants to play. I guess it's somebody else's prerogative to blackball him. If he's adding to the group, however, and making it possible not only for him to get something nice, but for others in the group to get something nice, as well, then what's the big issue?
Get off it Sesexe, the thinly veiled, demeaning slights are getting old.

Hrmm.
I'm editing myself heavily here because I was very upset by things said to me here, and my first response was very violent due to lack of necessary sleep, and working consecutive days without a break with all hell breaking loose at work.
I was having a simple conversation with Kasula. At all times, until now, I was simply making observations on his initial words and responding to what he was saying afterwards. I did't wait til days later, or piggy back on someone elses words to flame another person. Nor am I going to respond with a flame to anyone who has flamed me here, no matter how badly I want to shove them back down the hole they crawled out of.
I think Kasula is an alright guy. I've never had a problem with Kasula. I don't understand why Kasula would be blacklisted.
Thanks for never being a condscending prick to me when discussing deals Kasula, I truly appreciated your chivalrous trading behavior.

Oh jeez...who cares why someone looks at someone else? Maybe for RP reasons, maybe to see description, maybe to get eq ideas from similar class, maybe to be nosy, maybe to laugh, maybe to admire...the point is why do we look at people on the street? We just do. I think the real point of the post is the blacklisting part.

Shrug, I look at people to see what they are wearing, to see if its anything out of the ordinary. If I don't know what it does, I ask them. If they tell me, thats great, and my knowledge of eq stats increases. If they dont, thats cool also, they were probably busy or didn't know for sure what it did.
D***s forums are filled with posts about how they got blacklisted on one side. Frankly, I would never do that, but if someone else does that is their right. Politics/discrimination is all a part of most muds.
However, I think it should be kept in-game, not brought to the BBS. It looks bad on us, and on new players to the mud. Lets not slope down to that level.
