Sorry Ashiwi, the reason I'm picking winter time is because of the cost of travel and that seems to be more important to people. Nothing to do in Indiana, but look at corn fields in the summer anyway!

It's 'cold' around here until about late april through mid may. Snows until around april recently. Indiana weather is wierd though.

Which date?

The last week of January, first week of February, or a totally different date in winter, early spring?

Talk amongst yourselves and pick a date. Any weekend before March 1st is fine for me, just making it convenient and cheap for the rest of you so as many people as possible can come.

Our lease on our current apartment ends on March 1st and we intend to move closer to town. So the gathering would have to be before March 1st or after that week to give us time to set up the apartment we are living in then.

I would assume people will over extend during christmas and be short on cash in the January... feb 4-6 might be wiser than the weekend before payday in january =).

Actually, if you're going to speak strictly from a payday perspective, you might consider doing it after the sixteenth, since people usually have more free cash in the middle of the month than after the first.

Ok, let's just make it February 4th-6th then. A few more kinks have to be ironed out as far as what's a good time for people to arrive. As far as I understand it, redeye flights are the cheapest for those who intend to fly here, which means people would be leaving on Friday night and arriving here early Saturday morning? Something like that.

For anyone who wanted to come here on Friday, you'd be waiting outside my door if you came anytime before 4pm since that's what I get home from work :P

There's still more than 5 months until the gathering so we'll get all this figured out.

Hey clowns, if you're interested, Raspor, Azerost, and I were kicking around an idea of me hosting a gathering at my house some time after i kick my deadbeat brother out (which he's moving out on Oct 29th) - I am a smidge more centrally located than Jenera - and near a real international airport in St. Louis Missouri...

No hurries, but when you guys get a chance, could you list some of the hotels in the area? Heated, indoor pool and a spa would be nice, but a bed and a bathroom are all that's required.

There's a Ramada, comfort inn, super 8, amerihost, quality inn...that's all i can think of right now...the ramada and amerihost are probably the best quality...quality is the suck, super 8 is actually a decent hotel...these are all in warsaw, which is about 15 minutes from their house.

Ok, it seems February 4-6 is the best time, so that's the date.
As for the location, Ashiwi suggested I find out if anybody wants to stay at a hotel instead of my place and just have the gathering there. Have someone who smokes get a room and someone who doesn't smoke get a room and stuff. The only problem with that is smoking rooms tend to be on the other side of the hotel from non-smoking rooms. Having to go back and forth between two rooms might get annoying. If anybody wants to work something like that out, that's fine with me. I'd rather just have it our place, but considering the remoteness of our location, I can tell a lot of people don't want that, especially since we're so remote that we can't even get delivery for pizza or whatever and have to go pick it up.

But yeah, that's the date. I'm not expecting a big old turn out because the cons far outweight the pros, but if you want to come, just tell me when and what time in case we have to go pick you up from the airport and what you want to do as far as lodgings are concerned.

My big hope was that everyone would want to meet here and bring stuff like ingredients so I can cook a big buffet style feast, since I love to cook and smoke and drink and do whatever and then crash out on my floor. But if you don't want that and want to be in town, the hotel thing is still an option. I just know for a fact that I'll be able to buy food and combine it with whatever else someone may want to contribute and cook all day and night whatever, since I promised Kiryan pies, but I won't have the money to rent a hall or a hotel room or anything like that.

I'll see whoever wants to come the first week of February!
