Spirits, Ales, Mixers, and Beer

Postby Sesexe » Mon Nov 08, 2004 9:25 pm

What's your beverage of choice? Have any special drinks you've made up that feel are worthy of note and would like to share?

Two I discovered recently that I like:

- Malibu coconut flavored rum + cherry coke (w/crushed ice)
(Be advised, all that sugar and caffeine means you dn't want to overdue it)

- Mango Schnapps + Sprite (w/crushed ice)

Not a big beer fan, but Honey Brown is nice.

Although I didn't come up with either of these.. both are good :)

Tequila Sunrise and a Hotel mint :)
Hotel Mint : Bailey's + Mudslide mix + Creame De Menth. Tastes just like an Ande's mint, when mixed right :)

I'm a margarita girl, and a total sucker for a perfect margarita.

The best tasting drink I ever made up consisted of tequila, cherry Pucker, Sprite, a splash of pineapple juice and Rose's lime juice, and crushed ice. Since I'm diabetic I used diet Sprite, and it was still pretty darned good.

In the beer/wine cooler department, my favorite is Smirnoff's Twisted Apple wine coolers. I'd suggest buying them in the liquor store instead of the grocery store, but you guys don't have to worry about Oklahoma's dumber-than-fiction liquor laws.

I like the raspberry the most. The apple is a little too strong for me to drink a whole one. The tangerine is so so, seamed a lot better when I mixed it with some peach schnapps. ;)

Tequila shots with or without the lime and salt

Champagne (Corbel [sp?])

Amber Bock

Vodka martinis, a little dirty

Metropolitans

Alternately, once I'm drunk, anything with alcohol in it tastes pretty damn good.

White Wolf: Kahlua + Bailey's Irish Cream + Sambuca

I've never met another person who knows what it is, or who likes it. But I actually got it off a website and I think it's pretty good if they mix it right. Basically everything should be just about equal, but if there's too much Sambuca it's not as good... but there needs to be just enough there to give it a little soft of spicy kick... heh.

As for beer, I usually just settle for Labatts Blue or Sam Adams, but if I'm in the store and in a certain mood I'll grab a variety pack of Saranac. Usually the best though is the microbrews they have at McGreggor's in Rochester. Usually a lot of beers on the menu such as... err...

Ok, here's the thing: Lot's of GREAT beer on that menu but I can NEVER remember the names of any of them. :(

Friend of mine makes a drink called "Shrek your head" with midori, vodka, banana rum, coconut rum, and a couple other things. It's an awesome drink and we made it up last thanksgiving. Unfortunately, it really did end up shreking my head. Got in a big fight with gf that night and head was *pounding.* Turns out his was doing the same.

I'll get the recipe.

For me I have a lot of favorites, but here are the top ones:

1. Bloody Ceasar: 2 oz vodka, 8oz Clamato, 2 dash Tobasco over ice in a glass rimmed with celery salt and pepper.
2. White Russian, for when you are tired and need caffine to party.
3. Hoegaarden, a beautiful belgian blonde.
4. Bellini, it's SO hard to explain, just look it up on google.

And then we move into the thousands of martinis and margaritas.

Ooooh...I do like this subject!

I gotta go with these couple of favourites.

Beer - Moosehead, Keith's, Corona

Shots - Cement Mixer (shot of Bailey's, chased by bar lime)
Prairie Fire (tequila with a dash of Tabasco)
Sambucca (white and light that shit up!)

Mixed Drinks - Screwdrivers (Vodka and OJ)
- Dr. Pepper (a bit of Coke mixed with beer in a beer glass,
drop in a shot of Amaretto, have to chug the
whole thing. Tastes exactly like the title!)
- Whiskey Sours (shot of rye, bar lime)

Or basically, anything with booze in it. Except rum...there was some unpleasantness. :)

It's Sapporo and is halfway decent. If you want a better Japanese beer, try Kirin Ichiban. It's even harder to find, but SO good. Definitely my favorite beer, but I'll really drink any beer but Lone Star which can only be found in Texas (which you should know about Sesexe!)

As far as hard liquor, I am a Whisky, Whiskey, Bourbon and Scotch man. Anything cheaper than Jack gets mixed in Coke, everything more expensive is on the rocks or neat - mmm.... For those of you who are not afficianados, Whisky is the original, Whiskey is the foreign imitation of the original, Scotch (duh), and Bourbon is only made in Bourbon County, Kentucky. And yes, that's as far as my limited knowledge goes :)

Funny stuff, saw a german once try an Icehouse. He said it was to weak. So he downed half of the can, filled it back up with 80 proof jet fuel ($8 gallon jug of vodka) mixed it up, and took a swig. He proceeded to say it was still weak, but better.

I also learned that weekend that what I thought was a hell of a time on a keg stand was like a 10th of the time those german kids could stay up. That and don't shotgun race them.

Germans can drink!

Beer! I'll take Belgian or English Ale please:

Belgian Tripel Ales:
Westmalle Tripel (9%!)
La Chouffe aka "The Gnome" (8%) (http://www.achouffe.be/)
N'Ice Chouffe (their seasonal ale, 10% Mmmm)

English Ales:
Fuller's 1845 (6.3%) or ESB (5.9%).

Favorite Domestics:
Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale
Yuengling Lager (gotta support the local brewery :)

Liquor: Jameson's, Maker's Mark, and Knob Creek are my favorites, neat or on the rocks. Had a bottle of Knockando once which was a treat.

Um... Captain... geezus, why not just drink sewer water. For someone w/ Grey Goose taste, you'd think you'd be able to come up w/ something better.

Beer: Fat Tire, Moose Drool, Eclipse(guinness & blue moon)
Liquor: Whiskey... preferably irish, then blended then whatever... Jamison mmmm
Wine: tastes like crappy bread, yuck! ;)
Mixed: I created my own drink

2 oz. vodka
1 oz. malibu
1 oz. dark rum
fill 3/4's w/ OJ
Top w/ Grenadine
Splash of cream

mmmm....
