Return of the King (Extended DVD version)

Released today!

Picked up my copy last night at midnight. I just had to see all the new and extended scenes. Well I have this to say..

OMFG!!!!!!!ONEONEONEONEoneoneoneone

The Two Towers was my favorite of the 3, now this one is! I think when he cut out scenes, he cut out all the best!

SPOILERS!!
Gandulf fights Sauroman!
The Haunted Mountain is EXTENSIVELY longer! (and x10's better with perhaps the funniest scene in the whole trilogy!)
Aragorn attacks the southern sailing ships with the ghost army!
Gandulf fights the Witch King!
Aragorn taunts Sauron!
The Mouth of Sauron makes his appearance!

Well, that's just not fair. I've been required to wait until after Christmas/my birthday (close together dates) because "maybe someone else wants to get you this!!" You know how hard it is knowing it's out there and not having it?! It's quite painful.

Damn movies for coming out on Tuesdays when Fridays are paydays.
I have been waiting for this darn dvd since the extended edition for two towers came out. It was supposed to come out in August since the theatrical release dvd came out 3 months early. Then it got pushed to November and then once again to December 14th. Damn you, Peter Jackson, damn you!

Is it Friday yet?

I gotta wait until next Friday because we get paid every two weeks ... hooray for getting paid on Christmas Eve and still having presents to get :P I already have the regular versions of all 3 , and to be honest I probably wouldn't be getting this version at all ... but someone got me the extended version of the first one when it came out a few years ago for Christmas, and I just can't NOT only have one version! So I'll have both versions of all three movies :P *mutter* But yea, it sounds like the extra scenes in this one are well worth it, and I can't wait to get it.

What a long ass movie. Some of the deleted scenes were cool but Jackson just seems to add filler to most scenes. I liked the original version better if they would toss in a couple of the deleted scenes like the Mouth and Gandalf/Witch King.

Still worth the money however. And the trailer for the Hobbit looks sweet!

I just spent the last 4 hours or so watching the making of the Return of the King. The Appendices part 5 and 6 rather. It was funny and really amazing at all the stuff they did. But as I watched near the end of part 6, I just sat here with tears pouring down my face. I felt like I was there. The friendships these people formed while making these movies and all the footage at the end of them saying goodbye to each other just made me realize how lonely my life is without friends that I can see face to face and spend time with. But it also made me appreciate all of you guys that I've spent the last 10 years of my life with. So yeah, I'm sorry for being all sappy and all but watching that little bit of the DVD made me want to say that I love all of you guys so dearly and I can't wait to meet the few of you that will be coming to the gathering in February. I love all of you and thank you for being my friends.

Trailer for the Hobbit (2006). Jackson directed it and same cast for Gandalf, Gollum, Bilbo. I downloaded it (not sure if on DVD) but the movie looks wicked!

IMDB doesn't have any information at all about the project, and to my knowledge, peter jackson refused to divulge details on the eventual hobbit project until after his king kong movie was done

Vahok, you might not enjoy that filler, but I found myself watching the extended version, and on almost every extended bit, I would think to myself "Well that alone was worth the twenty dollars." I gave my first and second original releases to my daughter when I got the extended versions, and I'm sure she'll be glad to get RotK now.

Yep, got mine as well. Watched it the very next day. It may my pants sticky. Good good stuff. I was thinking about doing the marathon as well. A couple friends, a couple cases of Mt. Dew, a couple pizzas, a couple catheders.... good times.. good times.....

Ran into a friend the other day, one who loves to come to my Halo parties, and wants me to help setup a Halo party over at his complex. It seems his development has a small private theatre that you can reserve. But this thread has me thinking LoTR's party!!

I could only do the marathon if I could mud on a laptop while doing so and with a proper back/foot massage :)

Course, I'd be in a coma after about 15 mins of a good foot massage...
