If you actually expected good lines from the new Star Wars films, then you were setting yourself up for disappointment. The Star Wars films have always been about nifty special effects, not good acting. Episode 4-6 had corny acting, and I expected corny acting from 1-3 and duly got it. Episode 4-6 had cutting edge special effects, and I expected cutting edge special effects from 1-3 and duly got it.

Lest anyone mistake me, I adore this movie and will buy many more tickets.

No way, the worst line was when he learned his lady had died and he pulled a stallone -- "nooooooooooo". It was so bad I couldn't watch.

I thought it was an interesting foreshadowing connection to how Luke yells 'Nooooooooooo' when Vader said that I am your father.

See Star Wars Clone Wars the Animated Series, seasons 1 and 2 that are played on the Cartoon Network.
(Season 1 can now be purchased on DVD without interruptions. BBuy caries it.)

Personally think the animated series is better then the movies Ep1, 2, and 3 :P
Oh yeah, and the series explains why Grevious is coughing so much in Ep3..

You know, until Grevious' final battle with Obi Wan I couldn't figure out why the hell a robot was coughing!

I did see him in the cartoon, but I couldn't decide if it was the same characte ror not and in the movie he just looked like a robot... but in the cartoon he looked more organic, like some kind of lizard creature. So I got confused...

Haven't seen the entire cartoon either... heh.

I was confused in the cartoon too, Sarvis.. was he alive or was he a droid.. but I read somewhere that he's a combination of both.

The cartoon is excellent, I've seen the same episode 3 times and it's all I've seen, but it's damn good.

Check it out if you can. It explains a lot that they didn't include in the movies.

Yeah, I figured it out when they showed the closeup of his face and you can see lizardlike skin and eyes underneath his mask. He was a cyborg... heh.

From any distance he looks, moves and acts like a droid though... even his voice sounded robotic.

Grevious was done better in Clone Wars I thought. Also, after watching Ep3 in the theatre I kept wondering.. why was Grevious even in the movie? That is to say, why did Lucas enter him into the picture? It wasn't even necessary to be honest, and the char was just a waist compared to his character power, screne presence, and plot contributions he did in the animated series. I even liked his voice more in Clone Wars. Apparently the same guy who did Waddo (sp?) did Grevious in the movie.

Before I saw Ep3, I heard that Grevious beats the hell outa Obi Won (which would be in theme with the cartoon series - where he takes out 5 jedi AT THE SAME TIME) and begins to gloat over Obi Won. He spills the beans about Palpatine as the Lord of the Sith, and then Obi Won force grabs a blaster and shoots/kills Grevious when he isn't suspecting it. (Grevious never could block blaster fire, so that woulda made sense still. He didn't ever block it, just dodged it like crazy). But then the movie switched it all around and had Obi Won just beating the hell outa Grevious. This got a very big BOO from me and further contributed to the pointlessness of having the character even appear in the movie in the first place.

That's true, he was so scary in the cartoon and just kind of seemed like a speed bump in the movie. It would have been nice if they had done more with it.. The movie never explained why he was such a big deal, or why Obi Wan was "The Negotiator" ...

But then they can't put everything in, or it would be 8 hours long.

I've got all 25 chapters of Clone Wars on my computer...1-20 in .mpg, 21-25 in .avi. *hint*

And he (Anakin) did spontaneously combust...he didn't actually *touch* the magma, so in essence he did "light up" out of nowhere...anyway, that part was believable, it was the flames just dying out suddenly that was not. :P

You don't have to touch lava to catch fire. Being really close will do!

Not sure about the flames going out... maybe he used is force powers?

How do you ride on stuff so close to lava for so long and not melt? The catching on fire from being close to flames seemed possible, but the fact that either were so close to lava for so long didn't seem to make much sense.

Drove me Nuckin' futs with his coughing. :) I didn't see any lungs (not to mention throat (I was going to try to spell asophogus :EDIT: esophugus? I really should go into word before posting :/EDIT: but figured I wouldn't spell it right), so there was no reason for him to cough.

Grievous' role became evident after Anakin parted Dooku's head from his shoulders. With Dooku dead, Grievous became the leader of the separatists' droid army. This is why they were determined to find him and kill him. Thus, the reason behind the short-lived theatrical "live" version of the thri-kreen. :P

If you've watched 21-25 on the Clone Wars series, you'll see how Mace Windu f'd Grievous up by using the force to crush his chest, too. That explains why he coughs and wheezes like a fat man after walking up a flight of stairs.

An inherent problem with movies is that you can be close to magma and so long as it doesn't touch you you don't burn. lava measures in at about 900 C(16520 F), and magma measures in at 1000 C (1832 F).

The reality is that if he was that close to lava he would've been a husk a long time before. Surfing down a river of magma isn't really an option. I was glad someone finally made the proximity of magma set him on fire rather than tiptoeing over it :)

The WORST line/scene in the whole movie was undoubtedly....(drumroll)

The wookies doing the Tarzan yell as they swung into a lazer battle on ropes.

The whole scene was stupid, but as far as that one line...omfg.. its not even like they were wookies doing the tarzan yell in a wookie voice, that was the actual tarzan yell from the old movies, if you didnt notice. Perfect undulating pitch, something only an opera singer could do. It was so disgusting and unbelievable, i almost got up and left. But we all know Lucas deserves a shiner or two for best ideas.

Okay, finally went and saw it today, and it's a good thing I would have paid that much for the special effects and scenes, because I sure as hell wasn't paying for the acting.

And the best line in the movie was... oh, it wasn't in III, it was in the original "Star Wars," which I had to put in as soon as I got home, and when it got to this part a friend of mine and I laughed our asses off ...

Aunt Beru: The boy can't stay here, Owen, he has too much of his father in him."

Uncle Owen: That's what I'm afraid of.

At least it seemed funny at the time.
