With being on my last quarter of my AAS program, I've been almost way too busy to find time to do anything but work and sleep. Another thing I've been dealing with is this:

Hrm, too bad there's no 4d image or whatever they call those that look like real images. So cool to see facial images and details from those.

I think what Ryan's trying to say is that the legal proceedings following his wife's impregnation are taking up most of his time. In case you weren't aware it is actually illegal for people like him to breed, and the penalty is stiff.

Ryan's Legal Team:

Corth - Lead Counsel
Teflor/Sarvis/Thilliindel - Rebuttles
Ashiwi - Settlements and Mediation
Latreg - Evidence
Ragorn - Hearsay and Supposition

Well, here's the results of the latest ultrasound. They wouldn't give me a picture of the gender determination for legal reasons, but I'll just go ahead and spew the good news....

IT'S A BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were both hoping for a boy, and we got it. Here's the images we got today, at about 18.5 weeks:

We might have some more soonish, as the little wee one insisted on playing peek-a-boo, not allowing the ultrasound technician to get a good frontal face shot to determine if his lips and nose and eyes were developing OK.

Congrats, hon. :)

Daggaz: In too many cultures, it's somewhat tempting to bear children of a specific gender. If you don't know what gender your child is because the medical professionals won't tell you, you have to wait to find out, and aren't as likely to do something foolish.

I think what he meant is that he can't post a pic that shows the baby's gender on the internet. I suppose it could be construed as a form of child porn or posting lewd photos of a minor?

Actually.. I think he meant that the doc took the ultrasound of the baby, determined the gender, but would not give a copy of that picture in case he/she? was WRONG!!!

Its called CYA folks... so he/she? (the doc) doesn't open himself to a lawsuit if the baby turns out to be a girl and they've done the nursery in blue.

Actually, Radia has *never* been wrong in a gender determination. They had some pretty sophisticated equipment there. The shot they used to determine the gender was taken from below him, looking upward between his legs (he didn't want to uncross his arms from his face or his legs from his waist). It was pretty evident what the gender was from that angle.

I'm more inclined to say the reason why they were unable to give a photo was because of PC issues. I'm sure out there somewhere, there's some moron who finds pictures of fetal genitalia morally offensive.

Good news though! This coming Wednesday we're going in for another round of ultrasounds to make sure the face and its features are ok. We're already lucky enough that he doesn't have my nose, I'm just hoping he doesn't come out with my big ears or fair skin. :P He's also got my ginormous head (which indicates a high intelligence potential!)

For all you complainers on the middle name, we decided to change it to your standard vanilla Christopher. It wasn't because of anyone's opinion really, just that we actually started looking at it and it was feeling more and more like ebonics. :P

Thanks again for all the kind words and encouragement!

-Ryan

Silly double post.

I just assumed it was a Welsh spelling. There was a short period in my early teens when I wished I had more Welsh in me and that my name was therefor spelled in the "traditional" manner of Dafydd. For what it's worth, I think both Owen and I are in better stead with the more drole English. ;-)

Cheers.

Well, I don't know that it was so much that, as it was me trying to find a completely unique way of spelling it. It looked good for a while, but the more and more we kept looking at it, it started looking like a lot of the more common names do nowadays after they're given an ebonics twist. I don't mean that to be racist, but some of the names (or the new names thought up) are just...terrible.

Although, one of my wife's friends (the stupid bitch), who is due in 5 days, JUST decided to give her son the middle name Christopher too. So the middle name might change entirely at some point in the near future. :P

I don't feel too bad though, apparently lots of couples end up changing the name of their baby multiple times...LOL.

I never understood this.. why would you change the name that ya'll chose just because someone you know is using the same one?

My parents did it for me because it was my cousin, and it was my first name. I can sort of understand that. Dunno. It sounds like a great name and if thats what ya'll want I say stick with it.

Someone on the mud was having trouble choosing names and asked me what my absolute favorite names were. Some time later, they proceeded to steal my most favored baby name knowing full well the plans I had of using it in the future. So because of that, I can't say or write or use the name now without feeling angry. Obviously this means I can't use the name now! And yes! I'm still mad about it!

Names are a personal thing. If you want a unique name or one not overly used in pop culture, keep it to yourself. If you feel is worth using on your own children, DON'T tell another person. Chances are they will feel the same way about the name.

/bitter & angry

If you want a name that family or friends think is odd or spelled differently and are suffering from the typical "ha-ha" style jokes over it, tell them to take a hike and name your child what you want to. Just be prepared for the ridicule you or the child may receive from an over the top title. Names are the first way we have of defining our own individuality and while most people think a bland name is safe, it can also be tough being the 3rd or 4th kid called by that name in a classroom (etc.) setting.

That is my 2c even though nobody asked :)

Hugs
