Mudding with a newborn, how do YOU do it?
Mudding with a newborn, how do YOU do it?
Do you have the baby on your lap?
In a bassinet next to your desk?
In the crib downstairs?

it's been some years, and she wasn't a newborn when i started mudding, but she was under a year old. I just kept her in her playpen by the computer :)

Be careful. She may creeping doom you to death while the rest of your rather sizable group lives.
At only 3 days old, my first had the dexterity of a halfling and managed to twist his way to the KB to hit enter (without hitting any other buttons) while my group was waiting to go on archie.
A warning to all parents!
The best position to hold my kids I found was keyboard up on the desk, baby on lap in a straphold device like a snuggli. Otherwise, you are gonna be putting her down over and over. :)

It's in the help files.
Type 'help wife'.
I cast 'protection from spousal vengeance' before posting, it's okay.
I don't, really. Since my daughter was born, I've stopped raiding in WoW completely and I only do small-group instances when mom and baby are out somewhere. It's just not feasible to sit down for a multi-hour group committment when you may be called upon at any moment to change a diaper, clean up a mess, or give love to a screaming infant.
I picked up a DS and most of my gaming is done either solo in Warcraft, or in games like Puzzle Quest and FF3 that I can turn off or put aside at a moment's notice.

Naps.
Naps become your best friend.
Unless of course you're sleeping during them.
With my daughter, I just didn't mud much. I was working full time and spent the time off with the kiddo while daddy played. We only had the one computer anyway.
With my son I think I started playing after the midnight feeding, placing him in either the swing or bouncer. Swing usually had him back out after 10 minutes, but once I was up, I was up at least two or three hours.

That'd explain why you haven't come out of the closet. You're locked in!

You're only saying that because it was at your expense. :P

Ok, NOW I'm confused.
It's a slang term for sex fool.

not saying I do it, or condone it, but a little nip off grandpa's medicine bottle, right into baby's bottle should get you through those tia trips without so much as a whimper...
Also get ya 5-10 w/ time off for good behavior.
On the 'real' side of things... I quit gaming in 2000 except for console gaming since I got married in 2000, then remodeled a house, then had the baby, then lost the house to a storm, then rebuilt and now that he's started going to sleep earlier (9:30) and staying asleep for most of the night, I have returned to Toril. Was surprised as heck to see Tral was still 'waiting' for my return.
Enjoying it all too much too... Wife seems interested, but will take a bit longer to convince her to play...

nah, she's willing, just slow to plunge headfirst into new games. Then theres the issue of her always being tired (long hours, 2yr old, aggravating husband, etc.)
She's played Baldur's Gate w/ me on the PC networked, DnD, BG 1&2, and a few other RPGs on the PS2 and Xbox so she's cool with the concept, and while she's OK w/ typing, she's self-proclaimed 'not that fast'. I'll need to set her up w/ bunches of triggers, alias', and have her on the laptop near me...
Maybe this weekend if we find extra time :P
