It has occured to me that many of the items that are being placed on the board could be sold to the shop for more profit. So perhaps whoever is placing all the junk items FS wants to give newbies a break and sell it to them cheap. However, the shop is fairly cheap and a newbie could buy it from there. The person selling the cheap junk could just directly sell it to a newbie for the same price and save the newbie some time. Or if the person selling the junk really cares about the newbie, they could just give it away.

Yes, there are people bidding on these items, but these aren't bid wars. You don't see a last minute race to purchase most of this stuff and so a one time transaction would be just as efficient as the bidding and take out the amount of time the newbies have to do without the eq.

If you wanna sell junk that's fine. I''ve just started putting up filters on people's names. I just really wonder what their motivation is.

Seems to me that the introduction of another auction board is overkill.

On another thread, the notion of post-nosale buys was discussed. For the purposes of selling/near-giving-away items, set the period of the auction to 0 (zero) months.

Those who want to buy the stuff, buy the stuff -- instantly.

Those who want to give the stuff away -- don't need to be on at the same times as the newbies.

Newbies don't have to hope that the game has been up long enough for items to start showing in the stores, and if don't knowthe stats, can id it (optionally, items in this state could be made to be a free -- or an very nominal 1c or so -- id).

For those who must whine about people using the board to sell items for less than 100p, the items wouldn't be flagged "Open" any longer, so these are easily filtered by the MUD (as opposed to client filters)

I don't really care about auction at all, but you gotta admit most of that stuff just costs newbies 5 plat to identify it and that's all. On the plus side it's a good way to stop mud inflation! So whatever, if it bothers you just gag jaynor while in auction. Nothing else you can do to block annoying things outta the mud other than gag.
