Alignment

Postby Nurpy Fuzzyfeet » Wed Jun 15, 2005 10:15 am

I'm faced with the task of going from -1000 to neutral alignment. I've killed about 20 drow, which are the most evil beings I know of to kill, and my alignment has not moved one point.

This is just ridiculous. What am I doing wrong here? Killings orcs, trolls, etc. doesn't move it either. I went to split-shield and cleaned the whole place out practically and not even ONE point down.

If I'm killing the wrong mobs let me know, but at this rate it will literally be years trying to go neutral, assuming my alignment starts to move at all.

I had to do the same thing not to long ago, it was a slow process, but have you tried either spiderhaunt or the trogs over by ss? I spent about an hour or so there yesterday and it moved up 10. Hope that helps a little bit.

Unfortunately some things that appear 'evil' aren't evil enough to move you from -1000. You have to kill things that are as evil or more evil than your align to move it up. Good example are some of the mobs in Split Shield. While they have red auras, most of them aren't -1000 except for the wolves. I think SS mobs are in the -600 area as a guess.
Undead are usually -1000, and I think as Tida mentioned the trogs near SS and some stuff in spiderhaunt.

When one of my neutral characters accidentally went evil (to the tune of being 20 points or so into the evil zone) I went to SS to get back to neutral. It took hours, but I noticed that the closer I got to neutral, the quicker it was to gain back my align points. Don't know if that's hard proof of anything, but it may just be that the more evil you are, the more difficult it is to move alignment (as well as what has already been stated by others).

Somebody actually put an answer to this annoying dilemma in the game. Give me, Lilithelle, Sotana or Eya a holler in the game, Nurps.

I think Anab got to -600 by killing wolves in spider haunt.

but he's an evil race, and even if he were +1000, in about 30 kills of a good aligned mob, he'd be -1000 again.. lol

From everything I've seen and heard it is more difficult to go from -1000 to neutral than neutral to 1000 so as to prevent races deemed evil from having to worry about their alignment increasing from doing 'evil' things. It makes sense from the standpoint that an evil person wouldn't become a better person from killing an evil mob when they don't recognize a difference between killing an evil or good person but it is a nusiance for anyone who wants to maybe, just maybe, play a neutral or good evilrace.
Once you hit the neutral range it gets considerably easier...I've played around in Spiderhaunt and it seems to be pretty effective, but far too time consuming when you factor in that all your gains will be lost the next time you need buffer xp.

I really wish there were more places to do this though...

Foggy woods wolves work well from -1000 to -850 or so.

Once you hit that, you can safely go to SS.

Once you hit -350, kill the mobs on skeldrach lake to raise your neutral alignment to +350.

The rest is pretty straightforward.

I did this method with my monk in 40 RL hours and went from -1000 to +1000.

The zombies/skeletons that the SS shaman raise are very evil, and so are the aggro wolves.

Took me forever to get Kallinar back up to a good align from Neutral heh. I spent a lot of time in SS, and funny enough, the graveyard inside Waterdeep.

Kia never let me be about my Neutral Ranger status. Man I was hot about it too. I was like "Discrimination! I'm tryin to be more like a Druid! We all know Rangers suck!!"

I took Nilan my human assassin from -1000 to neutral then good. Took me a long long long time solo.

I started in fog enshrouded woods, killed a ton of wolfs, then eveentually i did orcs in SS.

Gotta really be conscious of what you kill cause one slip up and it takes away hours and hours of work.

Heh good luck

Neutral to good=2-3hrs max

Evil to neutral takes 40-50hours

Sorry...your neutral to good trek doesnt qualify for the alignment_is_gay_and_shouldnt_take_50_hours_to_fix thread :)

bah I hate being good anyhow. I still say I should be able to go neutral as my chosen diety is a neutral aligned goddess of rangers.

Because we're not really bad... we're just drawn that way.
