Mud terms?

I've been reading on these boards and I've seen some phrases that I don't quite understand. Would somone explain them for us newbs?

Classless mob

Xp being awarded based on class? such as enchanter enchanting?

Some mobs have skills like a warrior / rogue / invoker / etc... and some even combine several. These mobs are worth more exp than mos wiht no class/skills.

You get some extra exp for healing, damaging and stoning. So when people talk about getting enc exp for chanting, they mean the little bonus from casting stone.

Classless mobs are just that....they just sit there like a lump. Don't kick, bash, trip, hitall, use any psi skills, or cast (these are the most obvious skills that give away a mob's class/classes).

Sarell already explained the xp part. I believe any healer class who casts heals on the tank *during* combat receives some exp for this, enchanters get it for stone/dscale, invokers receive experience for the damage they deal, and melee receives exp for any and all damage they do to a mob.

a classless mob has around 25-33% of the exp a classed mob does.

Are there any other types of information like this that should be posted to the new player forum?

It would give the new players an understanding of what to look for. Just a thought.

I think one of the beautiful parts of TorilMUD is that is is such a complex game where you can learn more by experience rather than just reading the manual :)

Try explaining to them that you are giving them something to talk to eachother about, mudwidows! :) My GF likes to evaluate things I quest... and I usually get a good berating, like 'WTF!!! you traded how many super magic starseed nebulas and half the continent for a dagger?'.
