First, I really dont mind that the change of making it hit EVERYTHING in the room is done. It makes sense.

but... totaly changing the proc from damage proc to an actual spell that mobs evade and resist blows. Its suposed to be dragonbreath, not a spell.

Your a red dragon fanged dagger suddenly begins glowing brightly and vibrating.
The blade of the dagger slowly opens and begins to emerse the whole room in
bright yellow, red, and white flames that scorch everything in sight.

Notice 3 mobs left in room it double proced area damage and didnt do any damage to 3 mobs that die basicly 1 hit each.

also another test... showed this

so mobs are now avoiding proc too...

Again, I think proc should hit entire room and its easy to room, to stop area damage, sucks using it during a new zone but can deal. the other changes to the proc really make the proc useless.

so, it seems that the proc is currently broken, as if the code didnt copyover right.
or at least that is my hope, since the lack of rimispam and visible damage from the log below.

now, i realize that the changes involve:
1- changing it to blast radius code,
2- converting it into a spell and
3- turning down the rate of proc
4- making it aggro everything in sight

however it seems that you also turned down the rate of combo proc.. i dont see the reason as it was already pretty rare. you used to see it 3 times at most during the whole sm invasion when 2 rogues were dualing the rimi daggers and now, while doing silverymoon it procced a total of 1 time.

Thank you for all the feedback.

Due to a miscommunication on my part, the code was copied over before it was completely ready.

Malia: Next time code is moved over, the dagger will be back to its previous action of affecting all legal targets in the room. It WILL aggro all of the mobs it hits.

Grundar: The dual proc frequency wasn't changed, must have just been lucky last time or unlucky this time.

Pril: It was I that altered the proc.

Kindi: Y is the jari overpwrd in your opin?

because they keep the vit life after the effect wears off giving them constant healing.

immediate rebuttals:
1: "it's random" - yes it's random but like all random things can be counted on after long use in the statistical sense, and from what i've seen and done the healing is way too much and too easy, especially since it stays after the effect wears off.
2: "it's a really hard quest" - yes, it's a really hard quest but there doesn't seem to be many other quests that obviate the need for an entire class of group member (healer) to the extent that a khanjari dagger does.
3: "it's been this way forever" - yes, it's been this way forever and now everyone has an EFHR and works hard on making the daggers ASAP. unholy avenger is the only other item that comes remotely close to class-altering (other than chimera which should get its own thread).

i'm sure there'll be more potential avenues of ridicule but i'd rather talk about the dagger than trade insults.

Also remember to downgrade grey elves too Segojan. Extremely over-powered race. Like Kindi said, there's nothing that completely obviates the use of all other races at tanking, meming, and Rangers than greyelves. Also, it obviates the need for healing as well like Kindi said, since you barely ever need to heal them.

Very true, my barbarian warrior hasnt been used since i made my grey elf. Should def downgrade for above reasons.

Jari in no way negates the need for a healer. Jari in no way designates what I can or cannot kill as a rogue. Jari is a useful tool, but the Rogue/Ele combo is going to be sick because of the spells and sneakiness as long as both players are skilled. Remember one key thing, put whatever gear you want on the player it won't make them any better, and a good player with mediocre gear will be able to do far more.

If we really want to get the issues with the Rimi dagger addressed then let's keep this thread to that issue. If everyone just needs to vent about other balance issues then by all means go ahead.

If you want to start other threads though I promise to read them. :)

Pfft,

Please... downgrade elves. It's not the race that's the problem. -25 is still easily hittable. Elf tanking isn't easy without the countless hours and grinding to get the gear that makes it easier. Try playing a zoning elf tank without high end hps, tiamat, and asstons of maxagi. It's not easy.

Same with a rogue. Downgrade Khanji? The quest is a pain in the ass and requires countless hours and boots to find the rares. What'd Billy's take... a year? THAT'S 365 DAYS OF GRINDING. Holy shit... that's like having to work 80 hours in a week, for what you told was gonna be $10 an hour, only to find that on your paycheck they only paid you $5.

Just remember... it's really easy to piss and moan about the huge disparities in race, class, and gear when you're sittin on the top. Go back to square one and try leveling with no eq. You'll quickly remember how difficult this game really CAN be.

But don't downgrade me because I've spent 10+ years amassing the gear that I have.

Don't downgrade elves... STOP FUCKING ADDING SO MUCH DAMN MAXAGI IN EVERY ZONE THAT'S PUT IN. Stop perpetuating the so called "problem". If it's gonna be a game changer... make it harder to get, decrease the amount. Economics isn't that difficult. Before SM went in, an elf tank had to have some pretty serious gear just to get -31. Now it's relatively expected.

Don't just bitch about it and leave it at that... offer suggestions, try to fix it.

Why was rimi dagger changed in the first place? Talk about a stupid hard and annoying quest, I don't think there is one worse than this one and the dagger was the ultimate reward.

I think it was because the area proc wasnt hitting non-aggr mobs in room. All they were trying to do is get proc to hit all mobs in room when it area's. It's my understanding rest of changes were an experiment and are getting fixed.

- a red dragon fanged dagger area proc adjusted

didnt see any change from before.... existing problem is still existing..

its not same damage proc before its spell damage and its being avoided by 75% of mobs in room, those mobs that are hit make saves and mr, so the actual damage doesnt amount to much.

Wielder still cant see it hitting mobs, only seeing the mobs that avoid it.

not sure if any chages went in but it doesnt appear to be any diffrent from the last change.


Again im fine with this hitting all mobs in the room... it should. But the rest of the proc should be left alone, straight damage to all mobs in room and visual proc that you can see the damage and rare combo proc that puts out high ammount of damage.

The quest itself is really rough and includes one of the rarest dragons in the game. I dont feel the dagger should be toned down but just adjusted to hit all mobs not just aggr mobs.

Please change it back to what it was. The difficulty of this quest is easily on par with khanjari. And the dagger is nerfed to hell now. I'm fine with the dagger proc aggroing everybody in the room. It doesn't change that much, since in 99% of the cases the everybody is aggro anyway, and it probably should.

What does suck is that the damage of the proc is reduced to almost nothing, and it didn't do that much damage to start with. The idea of the proc was that it breathed dragonfire, it fits the theme of the quest. Also you can't see who the proc hits. I also fail to see what the point of the changes was, I can understand to fix the proc so it aggros all mobs it hits, but the other changes are beyond me.

The code move this last time around didn't have any updates to fix the problems with this dagger. It only had a few typo fixes. Think the news entry was in error.

briefly checked it out at boot, seems great, the normal proc is back havent seen combo but didnt have much time to check, next zone i'll comment on it.
