I can't see this going in, because right now the ONLY penalty for dying is it takes 6 minutes (with bard song) to recover, and the ONLY penalty for spanking is it takes about 8 minutes times number of corpses to recover. (Half that if you have two ressing clerics.) The only way to balance a mass ress spell (in terms of time) would be to make recovery from it take, like, an hour (half an hour with bard song).

Right now, I've heard of all sorts of groups spanking just as hard as I used to, on my worst days. Heck, I saw someone else lead Brass with veterans, which should have been a cake walk, and the results were as though I were leading it drunk with newbs who didn't know the "wield" command.

It's clear that the imms mean for us to die a LOT more in the brave new Toril of the future. And like it or not, ressing still takes time, and ressing whole groups takes even more time. In the future, with progressive downgrades of eq/players and upgrades of mobs, it may be quite regular for there to be several group deaths (i.e. 40 or 50 deaths) per zone. I'm just asking that the support spells be able to handle it.

Nah. People are dying because they're careless. Paying lots less attention then they used to. 'Cause why should they bother? We're all lvl 50 with oodles of percentage as buffers, so dying don't do nothin'. For those who "only" have 50 or 60% buffer, we got DS, we can run and pick up a few percent easy.

And we don't have to worry about messing up a CR and losing equip, because group can always get it together when they have to.

People are dying because they don't care. Dying doesn't matter. It's nothing the imms have done, it's a result of where the players are.

So perhaps I put it too strongly. I would agree: I don't like to die, I don't like anyone in my group to die. But it's only "kinda pissed", as you put it, in most circumstances, not [b]really[/i] pissed.

My 2 cents tells me if all the groups clerics tried casting together, there could be a 'consent group' for anyone wanting res. The clerics could get an 'accompany' type skill like bards maybe? resfx shouldn't be reduced per se or quested bards would get the short end on that one.

Okay crazy idea, but hell why not...slip into Duris mode for a second allow people to become 51 and create a 11th circle spell that takes 20 min to mem with no medi or 40 min if you allow medi. This makes it a rare cast spell and not balance affecting...the only class I would have a problem thinking of an idea for would be invokers since more powerful nukes would be a bad thing even if you could only effectively cast it once per zone. Cleric mass resss, Shaman group full heal, Druid mass well (that would be fun...open a well to everyone in group), Conj super mental (short length of time before poof), Enchanter group dragonskin, blah blah...

Hell, I wouldn't bother with it if I was in god land, but it's a though.

Just to point it out, btw, we don't tend to use corpses as deliberate landmarks so much as we like to leave them about and laugh when encountering them later.
