Fumble / Crash

Eipcs weapons... crashes.. this is a problem.

Losing your weapon to a mob because you can't kill it is one thing, losing your year long quest item because the mud crashed is just dumb. Sounds like a formula to make people quit imho. Is there a way that you could have a check, that if a weapon is dropped, and not picked up or looted by any PC, when game crashes within 30 minutes of this happening, it is returned to fumbling player? Hasn't happened to me since I lost a misty at start of wipe (which sucked) but have seen someone lose khanjari and new players almost in teears! :P

Guess thats where cursing your weapons comes into play...but I say instead of the damage going down on khanjari when cursed, I say cursing it takes away a proc or 15 on it! :P

agree, you should absolutely not lose equipment to crashes from fumbling dropping from ress or from getting eaten.

gods appear to regularly reimb quests that involve dropping shit on the ground why not reimb other crash related issues?

id be a lot happier with the cursing option if you let us put cursed shit in bags, having 4 or 5 cursed weapons in your inventory sucks ass. even if you curse your shit you can prolly still lose it to a crash right after a ress.

other problem with cursing, is remove curse doesn't actually restore stats as the spell description eludes to, so if you mess up and rem curse with a scroll on something you cursed, then you have ruined your item

"REMOVE CURSE"
Spell.

Area of effect: <victim> | <object>
Aggressive: No
Cumulative: N/A
Duration: Instantaneous
Class/Circle: Paladin/Cleric 4th, Shaman 5th
Type of spell: Enchantment

This spell will remove a "curse" on any person. To rid oneself of a
cursed item, equip the item, then receive a "remove curse" spell.
The item will then drop to the ground. If you cannot equip the item,
make sure that you remove*all* cursed items you are wearing to
inventory, along with the item(s) you cannot equip. Doing this will
insure that only the items you cannot equip/use will be dropped to the
floor. If you fail to remove cursed items you are wearing, all cursed
items worn and held will fall to the floor. To remove the curse on a
specific inventoried item, cast the spell directed at the item. Remove
curse will not reverse the damaging effects of "curse" on objects.

fumbling weapons is preventable - by cursing it and incurring the die penalty/cost.

dropping stuff on the ground for those particular quests is not preventable by a player - unless the imm's change those quests such that you give the quest items to some mob.

You can prevent losing it by just using a GCD too.... but still a shame.
A crash is such a dissapointing way to end such a long time of hard work. Sure it was easy to have a hardline about the issue in the days when you could get pretty much any weapon in a couple of hours, but really seems sad to me that you have to curse things incase the game breaks down so you don't lose it. Cursing also does have the annoying factor of making it stuck in your inventory. Res poses a problem with this also, not so bad as before, but still quite possible to lose an item.

I find the most annoying factor if a mob gets your weapon of any sort, and you know you can get it back, just might take 5 mins, it crashes...
