The Website

I noticed that the site doesn't have any information as to what is available on our mud. There is no Class info nor Race info. It would be nice to see what kind of characters can be created. Even if the info is just from what you get when rolling up a new character. Are we trying to keep this a secret from people?

Are you looking for your information only on the BBS? This is the place for players to discuss issues. If you want to find TorilMud's web page, go to http://www.torilmud.org/index.html.

That's unusual. I got to the site, from clicking on the icon on the torilmud page, several times. Thank you for posting the other link.

It looks like the error was just because the BBS included your period at the end of the link as part of the link.

I think I agree with Grizz though, the Website has some great info, but most online games have a pretty huge "fluff" section that introduces many of the aspects of the game.

IE:
Races - with a brief description of each race
Classes - class info and description
Major hometowns
Major zones/zone samples
Player fanfiction

Most of these can be pretty easily adapted from the existing help files.

For some decent examples, check out the websites for virtually any RPG, MMORPG or even most RTS games.

An alternate to the major zones section could be just a description of the world in general, breaking it down into various subsections.

IE
The Sword Coast
Evermeet
the Northern areas
the Underdark
etc
(ok I forget the names of all the regions offhand, so sue me)

Some fancy descriptions can be written for each of these subsections, I'm sure a lot of players would like to volunteer some of these if there aren't any already written.

No I am talking about the website that people are connecting to from Mud Connector. http://www.torilmud.dyndns.org

I suppose it is one way to get people to log into the mud by not giving them information up front. However, if we are proposing that we have such and such available then I think we should let them see it on our site.

*Edit* in response to Auril.

I see no reason why all the help files couldn't be available.

say
http://torilmud.dyndns.org/helpfiles/foo
[or http://torilmud.dydns.org/helpfiles?foo]

for the equivalent text of "help foo" in game.

hyperlinks between the help files would be gravy.

Gura ASSOC:: 'but im so good at it'
Gura ASSOC:: 'especially when im right'

The right 'VOTE' link is broken too. Kyndig is mudmagic now, so it should link to http://www.mudmagic.com/listings/game/609
