Energy Drain

Postby Khemed » Thu Aug 19, 2004 5:40 pm

My question here is why is Energy Drain an invocation spell? It seems to me that it should really be necromantic. Take a look at the spell description, this spell feeds on the energy of life itself and doesn't do much damage. I always thought that spells dealing with life energy were necromantic and invocations spells were the damage dealers? Am I missing something here?

Code: Select all

"ENERGY DRAIN"
Spell.

Area of effect: <victim>
Aggressive:     Yes
Cumulative:     Yes
Duration:       Permanent
Class/Circle:   Necromancer 5th
Type of spell:  Invocation

"Energy drain" literally drains the lifeblood from the victim, as it
feeds on the energy of life itself.  Although it does not do much
damage to the victim, a successful spellcast causes the victim to lose
experience (and associated levels and skills and benefits, possibly).
The caster then gains a fraction of this experience.

The gods consider such an act upon another living being extremely
evil, and casting it will thus affect how evil you are perceived in
the world.
