warriors and shields

warriors should be able to wear shield in combat

i say this because alot of shields have an open strap with a handle behind them and all you hafto do is shove your arm in and hold on

bucklers all you hafto do is just grab them like you would a weapon

if i can hold 10 items while fighting with a 2h sword while dodging kicking rescuing bashing ect ect i should be able to slide one of my arms into a shield

If there was a 2 or 3 round lag associated with putting it on it would work. So that you can't just keep changing to shield to bash and get a round of 2 handed weapon between while exping.

2-3 rounds is a bit excessive

i think that it should be based on defense if possible a warrior with 99 defense should be able to slip his shield on with 1 or less rounds of lag

50 or so i could see it taking 2 mebbe 3 rounds

at lower levels i could see it taking 3-4 rounds

but not 2-3 at level 50 with 99 defense

maybe it's cuz players are all !wear while fighting. Have new command like 'strap' shield or somethin that lags whatever gods say

alot can happen in 1 round and strap shield would work for me

I'd like to see anyone who is holding 5 or 6 items strap a shield on to his arm while fighting :P

Two or three rounds of lag and having to remove their weapon and rewield it to accomodate for the donning of shield.

Same applies for re-mounting! A few rounds of lag while you jump back on your horse!

I agree wearing a shield should lag a warrior as much as it lags a paladin or anti to remount.

In tournaments that's exactly what I had to do :P kenpo/kempo/aikido is fun! Whether dual wielding, or trying to use shields, nunchaku, etc, it just takes skill. They had this type practice to get you used to 'gang' type cowards who can't fight man to man :(

I especially like the idea of having to remove your weapon, requiring two hands to do it quickly. A round or 2 of lag, but not as much as 3, and then you can rewield your weapon and fight away.

i dont know about removing your weapon. like i said before most shields are designed to be grabbed by one hand.. alot of large shields that are disegned to fit on the back especially

In tournaments, Thil, you don't have 13 guys physically (or magically) trying to outright kill you. If you were tanking all 13 mobs in a do-or-die situation, there's no way you'd have a chance of picking up and wearing any type of shield, or having any remote chance of getting back onto a horse. You'd might be thinking of ways how, but ultimately you're worried about staying alive.

Now, if you wanted to make this work if the mobs were all blind, sure! :P

Remember, this is regular hand-to-hand melee combat, not martial arts.

Now now, we've all seen bruce lee movies! All 13 mobs stand there while only one tries to attack at a time :P LOL those movies crack me up. Heck, irl if 13 of anything grouped you, I picture a group pile driver. Even ppl like ken shamrock would be overwhelmed by those odds :(

I agree, you should be able to wear a shield in combat, with an associated penalty to keep it from being silly.
