Pure speculation:

Yes.
It will be fixed in Toril 2.0.

Dartan has entered the game.

Shevarash has a heart attack and dies, 2.0 along with him.

This implies that 2.0 was ever anything more than a brilliant PR scheme to keep people playing.

You guys are going to shit when shev posts in a week that 2.0 is live. I could just see him doing that for some reason.

At this point, even I'm wondering if 2.0 is ever going to be a reality. And I pretty much come down on the side of the admins regarding implementation time and free slave labor.

But still, the announcement that it was "almost ready" was what, two years ago?

Forgers? 2.0? Why back in my day, all you needed was a little elbow grease and a pair of shoes! If shoes couldn't be found, newspaper and twine would do just a fine job, I say, a fine job takin' care of that whole mess. Who the hell are you and why am I here?
Teflor does. Teflor does not.

Maybe its the contrarian in me, but actually I think now more than ever that 2.0 might actually be for real. Shev's self-imposed bbs exile has convinced me. In the past, it seemed to me that he invented this idea of 2.0 for the purpose of explaining why things don't get done on the current mud. I don't see why he would stop doing that unless maybe 2.0 is for real and hes said screw all this other stuff, let me just get 2.0 finished.
Having said all that, the situation has been handled, so this thread is pretty much at an end. -Kossuth

It's funny, but I've been thinking exactly that recently. A good way to get 2.0 finished would be to abandon the current incarnation and everything to do with it (perhaps delegate the work to someone else) and focus on getting it done.

Was thinking about alot of the delay of the inception of 2.0 and it got me thinking. Has there been any substantial changes to the ideas that were discussed 18 months ago? I'm mainly speaking on the ideas discussed about character specialization and generalization.

I was thinking that could possibly be what's made 2.0 delayed, you having to scrap some of your earlier ideas and start anew, any insight? thanks.

Toril 2.0 is based on D&D 3.5, which hasn't changed any since then. There are probably tweaks and implementation changes, but I can't imagine any core redesigns.

I'm sure this has been brought up, and i've read the posts to the contrary stating nothing will be revealed until it's done. But, I think people at least me for instance would gripe a bit less if you kept us abreast on what's currently happening with the system.

We're the playerbase, I think it would soothe people quite a bit to understand what is making it take so long. Instead of keeping us in the dark while people slowly leave because they think it's never gonna come about, just a thought. thanks.
