Telnet does not work for my client after windows server 2003

Postby malakwee » Thu Jul 28, 2005 3:19 am

can anyone that has experience with this problem give me ideas what i should do so that i would be able to use my mud clients once more?

Before the server installation i could use my mud clients or telnet to connect to the mud... but atm i cant anymore after the installation.

Regards

windows server 2003 starts off i a very restrictive mode prohibiting most incoming and outbound traffic until you finish "setting up" the server.

If you follow the installation menus (the ones after you boot windows for the first time) you should eventually get notified that the the server is being opened up. it pretty much wont let you do anything until you windowsupdate first (which is a hardcoded allow). Even after that I think your going to find you want to move back to windows xp or some other desktop operating system. Microsoft has finally recognized that a SERVER OS is just that and it should not also function as a desktop.
