Hey all!
I'm coming back to play my rogue and desperately need help with some triggers and aliases etc.
I have the *basic* concept down, but need some help with some stuff.
For instance:
When I tank a mob, I would like a trigger that would automatically trip the mob. Is there a way to set it so it only goes off on the specific mob? I dont want it trying to trip a player that gets done praying/memming and they "clamber to their feet" etc.
Any other advice/helpful triggers you have, I'd be appreciative!

You aren't allowed to do an auto-trip, or any auto-battle for that matter. That would be botting, so you wouldn't want to...
#trig {You barely pierce &mob.}
#trig {@mob clambers to|@mob rises to|@mob stands up} {trip}
but you might want to #trig {clambers to (*) feet.} {#cw bold,magenta} to make it easier to see.

but, what is the variable for the @mob?
Thats what confuses me the most.

ok.. here's 2 ways to do this, both do the same thing...
#trig {You barely pierce (%w).} {#var mob %1}
#trig {You barely pierce &mob.}
now to use what is stored in the variable mob you call it forth w/ an @.
You barely pierce a smelly elf.
@mob would evalute as "a smelly elf"

Hmmm What about this
I typically start out a fight with backstab
would there be a way to define @mob as what I backstab?

If you got mad skillz and always land a good backstab you can trigger the backstab message that holds the mob's shortname into a variable the same way.
i've never messed w/ this auto trip crap and just have a backstab alias that sets @trgt and when i esc and come back in to stab it reads that variable

Hmm
This is where you say:
"Stop being a lazy player, you silly little hafling! *swat*"

You might want some hide triggers based on a mob searching you out so you rehide before he eats you...and for when you are unhid after bumping into a mob in a one-way. Oh and a trigger to make you stand after you fail trip and wind up on your face "You manage to, with complete incompetence, throw yourself head first directly into the ground!"
Also be aware that sometimes you will carelessly try to escape in a direction for which an exit does not exist. If your escape skill is decent enough, you MIGHT escape anyway, just not in the direction you planned (since, well, it doesn't exist). So, you might want a alias to capture the direction you escaped and send you back into the correct room for those escape/backstab moments. I have died at least once in DS when I escaped out, didn't notice it was a direction other than the non-existent one I mis-typed (uh-huh) so ended up backstabbing a giant we weren't even fighting cuz I mistakenly thought I was going in the direction that would return me to group.
There was a great thread a few months ago on good rogue stuff to know you might wanna check out. http://www.torilmud.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=15959

I wouldn't have an autohide trigger. If a mob searches you out and you hide, you just lagged yourself long enough for the mob to search you out and kill you.
With trip, you don't want it triggered outside of exp. Not worth lagging yourself or messing up when something goes wrong. It's not hard to trip a mob as it stands. Maybe have it highlight when your trip target stands, but don't make it command you to do anything that might lag you.
