Speed up zMUD

Postby Thylor » Wed May 09, 2001 10:08 pm

My zMUD is running on a PII 450. It seems really slow. I am using Terminal font. Any idea's on how to speed this up?

Reduce triggers and gags.
Work with more trigger sets that turn on and off, like a battel set, a mem set, a gag set. Then turn them on only when needed.
If you use the mapper, go with small zones and connect them. The mapper if alowed to run free can eat up a large portion of performance.

Cut down on active memory as well. Under General/Prefs you can change the amount of memory you give to a window. This affects scrollback, but if you don't care about that, then it should be slightly faster.
