couple ripped out their lawn to save water. Then they covered it with wood chips and some other landscaping.
City has cited them for failing to comply with code requiring that 40% of their yard be live ground cover (read a lawn).
Just another example of stuff I really think the government shouldn't be bothering with and another reminder that its not really your property.
more great government!

yea no doubt...
Their water consumption went from 299,000 gallons to 56,000 gallons. That's pretty damn amazing if you ask me. I'm assuming they weren't using gray water (some cities you can actually hook up to gray water for watering your lawn instead of drinking water).

What an amazing waste of resources. In order for that lawn to be watered you needed to have about 240,000 gallons pumped to their house every year. Imagine the energy required to pump so much water. Not to mention the cost of water treatment. Crazy. You don't require well manicured lawns in the f'ing dessert!

Re: more great government!
Apparently the city is dropping their case. I've only seen 1 article that indicated that.

kid directing air traffic (im sure under the immediate supervision of at least their parent). i want to say lets quit being retarded, but at the same time it is a pretty important area... could you imagine a general bringing his kid to the pentagon?
