V6 vs I4

Postby teflor the ranger » Wed Mar 10, 2010 2:09 am

Those inline four cylinder engines are getting more powerful every year. I think a lot of the new inline 4 cylinders put out better torque and power than my old V6. What would you guys look for in a new car? Do you really need 220 hp?

Panty soup. Some cars have it, some do not.

I think if I was looking for that, I'd get a decent work truck, bang up the bed a little and rub some dirt into it, but then make sure the cab is clean. And maybe keep a small econo/eco car in the driveway next to it for when I'm not 'working.'

This is how Corth rolls. 372 hp is just enough!

Yeah, that would be in the list of the cars that I *want*. Unfortunately, I'm getting a spectacular price on a car I don't. Is $10,000 enough to soothe the pain? Only time will tell :(

Thread on fatwallet.com about cars.overstock.com. Some really great deals there. 2010 V4 Hyundai Sonata (automatic) for $13,982. Sick.

Fair enough. I just basically default to 'V4' when talking about 4 cylinders, but you are right.

Yeah, that was the car and price that sparked my dilemma. It's HALF the price of the car I actually want.

If I needed a new car I would have been all over that. Hyundai's have really increased in quality over the past few years and that's a good car for what a much lower level car usually sells for. Also, the Hyundai warranty, though not transferable, is great if you plan to put a lot of miles on the vehicle or keep it for a while.

I'm probably going to see about picking one up this week. It's a great deal on a decent car.

sok worked for hyundai about 8 years ago... they came a long way, but their automatic transmissions were still questionable. but if you went manual transmission, between the price and the warranty (10 year 120k miles?) you can't hardly go wrong. I was thinking of buying one, but I wanted/needed an SUV.

Who keeps a car for 10 years? In 10 years, government will have outlawed anything you could buy now in the interests of global warming.
